That title above isn’t a joke: the main character has actual Minecraft powers. No, not “Minecraft-like” powers; I mean he makes cubes and stacks them like in the game. Even the cheat skill UI is similar, as are the furnaces. How did the creators get away with this? I don’t care; we have a dark elf waifu and potential monster-girl waifus if we can believe that “harem” tag. Let’s see how this guy survives in another world with Notch’s blessing in this review of Survival in Another World with My Mistress! (Goshujinsama to Yuku Isekai Survival! The Comic).

Who decided to give an isekai protagonist Minecraft powers? Ryuto released the original Survival in Another World with My Mistress! on the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro on August 17th, 2018. Yappen provided the art for the light novel adaptation, which debuted on May 30th, 2019. GC Novels has published ten volumes in the Micro Magazine imprint. SASAYUKi provided the art for the manga adaptation, which debuted on March 30th, 2020. Micro Magazine has published nine volumes in Comic Ride.
The Crafting Tales of Survival in Another World with My Mistress!
The story itself is tonally jarring. It’s good, but it is jarring. The premise itself seems silly and typical for an isekai series: a random Japanese dude, Kosuke Shibata, ends up in another world with a cheat power. Giving him Minecraft powers that he can activate by thinking about typing on a keyboard and watching people stand in disbelief as he builds a giant wall around a settlement in hours is silly. So why did they include dark elements like war, assault, and murder?
There’s a guy who hates humans because they invaded his homeland, assaulted and murdered his wife, and murdered his kids. Gosh darn, that is dark. That aside, they gave us some interesting lore about dark elves: they’re just elves who succumbed to hatred. Sylphyel Danal Merinard was a regular, slender elf until she waged war and gained a fit, tanned body. More of that, please, and fewer war crimes and their victims. It’s a great premise for Kosuke to use his crafting powers for weapons and defense, but sheesh.
The Dark Elf Waifu (and Monster Girls) of Survival in Another World with My Mistress!
Sylphyel is one of the best things about this series, even if she insists on keeping Kosuke as her “slave.” She’s a tsundere dark elf, which is one of the best combinations of waifu archetypes in existence. Sylphyel acts calm and cool during the day and becomes submissive…and breedable at night. She decided she’s both Kosuke’s master (even if that slave collar doesn’t actually work on him) and his wife.
Sylphyel actually helped Kosuke unlock some cheat-style in-game achievements by taking her to bed and…ringing her bell. Beyond sexy dark elves, we have Aira the cyclops. She’s an alchemist and mage, and incredibly funny. Her attempts to figure out how Kosuke’s power works are a source of frustration for her and comedy for us. If Kosuke doesn’t grind out more achievements with her (and others), he fails as an isekai protagonist.
The Crafted Art of Survival in Another World with My Mistress!
I haven’t seen any divine light blocking out the girls’ chests yet. There are some fine camera angles and upskirt shots, and gosh, those are some tight pants or panties. The harpies wear loose-fitting tops that move and sway, giving some fine justice shots. This one dog girl bends over, giving us that “I’m not a furry, butt” moment. It’s a clever use of lewd clothing, and I like it. However, the manga artist pushed the bar so gosh dang far, my friends.
We get a clear, unobstructed shot of that lizardwoman’s downstairs. How the heck did that get past every checkpoint? Even if it’s not, it looks like it, and I can only salute this guy. He’s clearly a furry and a scaly, and he can change some minds about monster girls. I never once had any interest in cyclopes and lizardwomen until now.
A Crafted and War-Torn Conclusion
I like most of the story, and the art is great. Even the creepy-as-heck gizma, giant roach-like insects, are cool to look at. The characters eat them, though. Eww. However, the war story, a human supremacist kingdom destroying the elven kingdom and driving elves and other races into a forest as refugees, contrasts with the isekai silly premise. I can’t watch this guy make floating blocks in midair and take the war crimes they talked about a few chapters back seriously.
For the cultured art and the story parts I liked, I give this series a solid (and revealing) 4/5 on the Megumi rating scale. Earn the harem tag and tweak the war bits, and we can talk about bumping the rating up.
