Yowayowa Sensei, Episode 7 — Their Best Smuttiest Summer Ever Exposed!

What pictures can the photography club publish of The Best Summer Ever!? Not the ones we’d choose.

Lesson 7 — “A Weak and Wimpy Photography Training Camp (1)”

Anime fans can complain about formulaic fanservice episodes, but those formulas became clichés for obvious reasons. We want to see sexy character designs in bikinis and thin yukata robes, with romance complicating their already flirtatious relationships! Yowayowa Sensei takes its dojikko–moe-lucky-sukebe formula to the beach for surf, sand, and slippery skin. You know what I’m talking about! And Episode 7 is only the first part! Let’s focus on some standard training camp plot devices and how these sitcom characters put their spin on them to exploit a weak, wimpy ecchi machine.

The term “training camp” in anime confused me the first time I heard its use. Why? Because the kids from the manga club were sitting in a beachside inn drawing comics. That was one of my first run-ins with how Japanese borrows terms from other parts of the English language in unpredictable ways. Training camp for sports teams is common enough, but I had never seen its use for hobbyist recreational clubs. I hope that primed you for how Yowayowa Sensei unpredictably borrowed other anime’s standard training camp elements and jammed them all into a single ecchi beach-trip arc. And some things you wouldn’t expect in the summer!

Expect the Expected Ecchi from Yowayowa Sensei

Hiyori-sensei and the other voluptuous girls in Akihito’s orbit have gotten naked plenty of times during the first six episodes. But that was almost always indoors or at night. Their alabaster skin needs protection from direct sunlight as they don skimpy swimsuits. You know what that means for an ecchi fanservice anime: the slippery sunscreen application scene! Of course, for a fanservice anime like Yowayowa Sensei, wardrobe malfunctions from slick situations are only halfway up the ecchi meter. It needs to throw in a fetish or two in a nod for the 2 a.m. crowd.

How about ashiatsu (足圧, back walking massage) slipping its way into paizuri pressure? And it looks like a cross-reference to delivery health and soapland girls! That’s how you fill lucky-sukebe tactics with dojikko-moe energy.

Another conventional fanservice device: The King Game. You’ve seen this in other anime. It’s like drawing lots combined with Truth or Dare. It starts innocently enough with the pure-hearted Hiyori-sensei ordering others to pay compliments. But it quickly devolves after horn balls Yuuki, Kaya, and Akemi issue the King’s orders of bare boob-pressing, a Pocky-eating contest, and kissing. The only specific wrinkles for Yowayowa Sensei came from Yuuki’s cosplay outfits and Akemi’s baby rattle.

And one more standard summer vacation scene dropped into this episode, courtesy of the scheming Akemi. The bodacious bombshell character in a white summer dress and straw hat. And a pink G-string riding up her butt crack? Yowayowa Sensei put its ecchi mark on the conventional wistful age-gap romance vignette. Shotacon doujins (and that one scene from the Oshiete! Galko-chan OVA…) can tell you more about what happens next!

Expect the Unexpected Ecchi from Yowayowa Sensei

School ski trips in anime usually include a version of the avalanche (or falling down a steep ski trail) subplot. The main character and his love interest need skin-to-skin contact to warm someone up. But I never thought I’d see that scenario at a beachside inn with an overactive air conditioner. The photography club president is a devious vixen! And it did force Hiyori-sensei to fulfill the King’s last order to kiss Akihito. So, when does Akihito kiss Hiyori-sensei’s bare chest back in Yowayowa Sensei? Smooching her cooch has happened numerous times already.

Plus, the anime paid homage to another ecchi anime with loose-fitting robes: Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs. Hiyori is another restless sleeper who can’t keep her yukata folds tied together.

Is the next item expected or unexpected for a beach trip arc? It’s a cliffhanger for the second part, that’s for sure. Does Mizuki’s confession of love mean romantic love or the rom-com copout of admiring something about Akihito? Tune in next time for more lucky-sukebe gyarus falling out of trees in Yowayowa Sensei.

How do the lovely ladies of the photography club look in their bikinis? Pretty darn good! Kaya is hot! And not only because she keeps her white lab coat on. Oho. Akemi joined the club trip. I expect her to add extra shenanigans to Kaya and Yuuki’s plans to capture Hiyori-sensei’s lucky-sukebe side. Yuuki appears even less happy to have Akemi around than Akihito. At least Hiyori-sensei’s pure white bikini can soothe his soul. We saw her and Akemi’s swimsuit choices in Yowayowa Sensei’s clothes-shopping episode.

Kaya announces the photography club’s theme for the training camp — “The Best Summer Ever!” Starring Hiyori-sensei’s body parts, I’m sure. But first, the weak and wimpy teacher must avoid the tiring ocean waves sweeping her away. And she needs help reapplying sunscreen lotion to her back. Kaya seizes on the shutter-chance! Akihito, feel Hiyori-sensei up! Yowayowa Sensei’s peace-seeking teenager is also weak to social pressure from Kaya-senpai.

Stressful! Kaya suggests a turnabout to help Akihito relax. Except it’s a back walking massage! Aw, except Hiyori-sensei tires out quickly standing on one foot. Ooh! The dojikko-moe spirit transferred its lucky-sukebe to Kaya! But Akihito was the luckier one because Hiyori-sensei’s boob pressure massage is much easier on her stamina. Akemi wanted to join the slippery boob lotion application.

It’s Good to Be the Yowayowa Sensei King!

Oh hey! The training camp beach episode is also the traditional inn episode. Naturally, the club members are all in the same room to instigate shenanigans with Akihito. The girls will stash him in the alcove. Here come the pranks! Kaya had set up drawing lots for the Ousama (King) Game. Yowayowa Sensei’s first King is Hiyori-sensei, whose first order is to pay compliments. She’s an angel! Akihito quickly lists Mizuki’s best traits. Aw. Mizuki is shy about all the attention. All right! Yuuki derails this love fest. Kaya does her best with a yuri Pocky-eating contest. Yuuki’s worst nightmare — smooching Akemi!

Lewdness is only a means to the end for Kaya. She wants to see the evocative facial expressions coming from the lewd situations. Flashback: Akemi and Kaya colluded to make Hiyo-chan her sister-in-law. Um, that means marrying Akihito, right? Right? Will Akihito kiss Hiyori-sensei? Boo, what a wuss! He feigned illness and entered his solitary alcove. Oops. So did Hiyori-sensei! She sprung Kaya’s trap!

Yowayowa Sensei’s intermission cards hint at moonlit alcove action, but I hope for another beach day.

Uh oh. Hiyori-sensei thinks she must nurse Akihito back to health. Oh. Akemi and Kaya told her to rub Akihito’s tummy. Akihito’s forehead isn’t hot, but Hiyori-sensei might steam the rest of him. Oh, okay. Akihito admitted lying about being sick to end the embarrassing King Game. Too late! The other girls trapped Hiyori-sensei inside the alcove with Akihito! Keikakudoori! And Kaya controls the AC. Yowayowa Sensei inserted an avalanche scenario into a summer beach arc! Hah! The kissing command happened anyway! Not following the rules of the game stressed out Hiyori-sensei. But now she completed the game. Oyasuminasai (お休みなさい — good night)! Zzz. And good morning! Keikakudoori, again!

Oh, good. Even during a club training camp, summer vacation should have an element of relaxation. How about a forced date between Hiyori-sensei and Akihito? I’m sure the others won’t be spying on them to capture candid photos of “The Best Summer Ever!” I’m pure-hearted like that. Oh, no. Hiyori-sensei is so weak and wimpy that she can’t even hold her camera still enough for its stabilization feature to keep things in focus. Her smartphone is better, though. Akemi picked out Hiyori-sensei’s outfit, including her G-string panties!
