I’ll Leave, My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s

A regal king summons a high school class to another world for a grand mission and adventure. They receive a hero’s welcome and magical gifts to complete the mission. One lone student finds the entire affair suspicious and quietly leaves the group to find the truth. We’ll see what he uncovers when My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s (Assassin de Aru no Sutetasu ga Yusha Yori mo Akiraka ni Tsuyoi Nodaga) premieres sometime in October 2025.

Matsuri Akai and Tozai released the original My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s light novel on November 25th, 2017. Overlap has since published four volumes in the Overlap Bunko imprint.

The isekaied assassin and his new elf girl waifu are as follows:

• Akira Oda — Takeo Otsuka (Aquamarine Hoshino from Oshi no Ko). A quiet guy from Japan. His Assassin Class outpaces even the Hero Class.
• Amelia Rosequartz — Saku Mizuno (Ryo Yamada from Bocchi the Rock!). An Elven princess whose twin sister betrayed her. She happily teams up with Akira.

Akira Oda lives a quiet life, blending into the background. He works part-time jobs to support his ailing mother and his younger sister. Akira appears cold, but his stoic demeanor hides a kind heart and the warm affection he feels for his friends and family. Another world summoned his entire class, uprooting their lives. While they see adventure and glory, Akira only sees a scheme unfolding before them.

Akira receives a magical gift, the Assassin Class, alongside his companions. Though people prize the Hero Class above others, Akira’s Assassin Class has far superior stats. He quietly disappears from the group to investigate why the other world summoned them. He finds new friends, such as an elven princess, and new enemies, such as the king. Wielding the legendary katana Yatono-Kami, a relic of the first Hero, Akira will uncover the truth and set things right.
