Manga writer Katsuwo had different ideas for his #Zombie Sagashitemasu (#I’m Looking For a Zombie) comedy. The anime adaptation premieres October 3, pairing warm ensemble energy with post-apocalyptic exploration and bringing bright colors to the zombie genre amid a dark backdrop.

#Zombie Sagashitemasu Sends Its Strong Traveling Party into the Undead Wilds
Studio Comet has assembled staff with credits across comedy, romance, action, and fantasy anime for #Zombie Sagashitemasu. Shin’ya Une directs, Ken’ichi Yamashita and Aki Itami handle series composition and scripts, Narumi Shimoji designs the characters, and Kenta Higashiooji composes the music. Surii performs the opening theme, “Raki Raki,” while cadode provides the ending theme, “Soft Apocalypse.”
Can the mix of childhood friends and newcomers fit into Aki’s blue Daihatsu Midget? They’ll need to find out before the zombie horde reaches them!

#Zombie Sagashitemasu Finds Its Heart in a Missing-Father Mystery
#Zombie Sagashitemasu happens thirteen years after Akai Hi (“Red Day”). On that day, a mysterious disease killed 90 percent of humanity and raised the victims as zombies. Aki grew up inside an isolated village with no memory of the old world. She heads outside with Haru, Natsuki, Yuu, and Sakura to find the father who left before her. Her search to reunite with her family provides an emotional hook between the jokes about crushing zombie heads.
The premise of #Zombie Sagashitemasu works because of its leading young lady. Aki sees possibility everywhere. She’s an optimistic girl whose sunny curiosity turns survival travel into a coming-of-age adventure. The ensemble cast feels more like sitcom players cracking jokes around a couch at a coffee shop instead of holding off the undead from the bed of an antique pickup truck.
Katsuwo Makes Ruined Japan Feel Like a Colorful Slice-of-Life
Manga creator Katsuwo’s previous works, Mitsuboshi Colors and Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu, also became anime shows. Those comedies find warmth in young characters creating adventures around their local park or aiming for self-improvement through the power of new friendships. #Zombie Sagashitemasu also focuses on kids’ relationships, but across a post-apocalyptic Japan. Can you have a slice-of-life comedy adventure while scrounging for anti-zombie weapons? Katsuwo’s story answers that question.
Fans of Mitsuboshi Colors will recognize the adventure-comedy atmosphere. Katsuwo’s characters make exploration feel like a shared game, and the new series adds life-and-death stakes beneath that playful rhythm. Aki’s search keeps each stop meaningful, while the group’s differing temperaments generate laughs without ignoring the consequences. They’re fighting zombies, after all!
Where to Find #Zombie Sagashitemasu
#Zombie Sagashitemasu begins October 3 at 11:30 p.m. on TV Asahi’s nationwide 24-station “IMAnimation” block, with BS Asahi and AT-X broadcasts also scheduled. Crunchyroll licensed the series internationally.
The completed manga ran for three collected volumes, and Yen Press has announced an English omnibus titled #ImLookingForZombies: The Complete Omnibus. Viewers can continue the story after the anime finishes its Fall 2026 broadcast.
Maid of the Dead Keeps the Playful Zombie Energy Going
