Dragon Ball Super Gets 4th of July Marathon

July 4th weekend will soon be upon us in the States, which usually means eating hamburgers and hot dogs, enjoying outdoor activities, and finishing the evening with the dazzling brightness of fireworks along with friends and family. While current circumstances might remove some of those activities from the equation, Toonami has decided to add a new one: staying in and going Super Saiyan.

This year Toonami is dedicating its 4th of July programming block to Dragon Ball Super, and nothing but Dragon Ball Super, with a block extending from 12 am to 4 am EST. That gives fans an extra hour of Dragon Ball goodness. The block will air episodes 60–67 of the series, which will finish off the current Future Trunks arc. For those missing their Dragon Ball Super fix, you’re in luck! Toonami has announced that Dragon Ball Super will be returning to the Toonami lineup too!

Dragon Ball Super returning to the programming block will, in fact, fill the empty slot left by the ending of the fourth season of My Hero Academia, as well as take the programming block’s coveted midnight slot.

With current circumstances bringing production in countless anime studios to a halt, it may be sometime before we get to see new seasons and new series return to Toonami’s programming schedule. I know I can’t wait to see the second season of The Promised Neverland make it into Toonami’s lineup and hopefully become a series that helps keep Toonami running long into the future. However, it’s always nice to see an old favorite make the rounds again and keep fans entertained. So whether or not you plan to eat your weight in food like Goku and Gohan, work through family stuff like Trunks, or just stay cool like Piccolo, here’s to hoping everyone has a good holiday weekend!
