Anime Isn’t Afraid of Sex Scenes, and That’s a Good Thing
Why did you first start watching anime? Were you first attracted to it because of giant Gundam robots, or transforming magical girls, or super cute singing idols? I became an anime fan because I loved how it was free to tell any kind of story it wanted. Stories about intergalactic wars in which whole planets hung in the balance. Simple and relatable stories exploring dark and mature themes. And yes, anime has the freedom to portray off- and on-screen sex, allowing us to follow characters who have fallen in love and are rewarded at the end of a journey by enjoying sex together.
Accidental Insertion in Joshi-Ochi!
One innovation anime studios came up with a few years ago was making two versions of an anime work. One was safe-for-broadcast, keeping the sexual themes implied but keeping actual sex off-camera. Fans could then pick up the Blu-rays and have the full sex scenes restored if they wanted. Everybody wins!
I really enjoyed Joshiochi! A Girl Came Falling Down from the Second Floor!?, about a guy living in an old apartment with a sexy upstairs neighbor. When she falls through his ceiling onto his conveniently-exposed cock, they both decide to just keep going until they’re finished.
Having Sex with a Random Girl… Who Becomes Your Sister Later That Day
I really loved the “trash anime” Domestic Girlfriend, about a boy who hooks up with a random girl he meets… only to discover that the girl has become his stepsister thanks to his father’s remarriage. And things only get more interesting from there!
Scum’s Wish and “Surprise Yuri”
I’ll never stop trying to get fans to watch Scum’s Wish because it’s one the most over-the-top single seasons of anime you could ask for, with crisscrossing relationships going all over the place. When Hanabi asks her close friend Sanae who her crush is, Sanae can’t resist and kisses Hanabi. Spaghetti’s straight, until it gets wet!
The Perfect Anime Ecchi Setup: Trapped in the P.E. Equipment Storage Room
The trope of “sex in the P.E. equipment storage room” is popular, and when I first visited one of these rooms in real life, I had to pause before entering such a hallowed space. This ecchi moment from Clannad with Kyou Fujibayashi remains one of my favorites, even if it was only played for fan service.
The Kiss x Sis Kotatsu Scene
Another legendary anime that gave us great ecchi moments without true anime sex scenes was Kiss x Sis. There are so many great scenes from this series, it’s hard to pick one. I sure loved the “hiding in the kotatsu” episode though.
The Best Anime Sex Scene in History? Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World
Obviously, isekai anime is all about building the perfect escape fantasy for male fans who wish they could get a harem of busty girls in a magical world where no one had to pay rent or taxes. The Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World did such a good job with the anime sex scenes, I don’t think anyone else needs to bother trying. It must have been a real “Passione” project by the anime studio.
Interspecies Reviewers Redefined Monster Girl Sex
Another legendary anime was Interspecies Reviewers, which, despite almost being a full-blown hentai, had better world-building than many series I can think of. I loved the scene where the characters went to enjoy sex with fairy prostitutes, but had to get measured to make sure their “equipment” wasn’t too big for the girls.
Kite and Mezzo Forte Inspired Tarantino
Kite and its sequel Mezzo Forte are two anime films that are so legendary, Quentin Tarantino showed them to actress Chiaki Kuriyama so she could learn what kind of acting he wanted from her for Kill Bill. Both films are loaded with the most incredible action and violence you could ask for… and both feature hardcore anime sex scenes, because why not? We’ve got both films in stock, by the way.
After All That Build-Up, They Finally Did It!
There’s nothing like watching characters we’ve been following for years finally overcome the various challenges that hold them back, allowing them to finally be together. That’s the incredible payoff Mushoku Tensei fans got when Rudy and Sylphy were finally able to find happiness together.
Shinmai Maou no Testament Gave Us Awesome Cousin Sex with Chisato
I love the rise of ecchi anime during the 2010s, with lots of great waifus that really got fans’ juices flowing. One such show was Testament of Sister New Devil, which is filled with amazing sexy moments. But the best part was the long-awaited anime sex scene with Chisato Hasegawa — his cousin, by the way — in the final OAV.
Yosuga no Sora: Anime’s Game of Thrones Moment
Finally, we get to Yosuga no Sora, the bold anime based on a visual novel that dared to give us direct on-screen sex between blood-related twins. And it was quite glorious to see.
