A Key, Aniplex, and P.A. Works announcement on May 10th revealed the title of the new original anime series, The Day I Became a God (Kamisama ni Natta Hi). Along with the exciting announcement they previewed a trailer and visual that revealed the released date and character designs. This would be the third collaboration between these companies, alongside Jun Maeda, the author behind the popular anime series Angel Beats, Charlotte, and CLANNAD. He is credited as the creator and scriptwriter of the new anime series. The announcement also revealed that P.A. Works is to be head animation studio, and Na-Ga (character designer for Angel Beats, and Charlotte) would be joining Jun Maeda on the original story and script as the character designer. The Day I Became a God is slated to air in October 2020, and a special program will air on Tokyo MX on May 24th, with additional information on the new anime series.
The previous collaborations to feature Jun Maeda’s original stories between Key, Aniplex, and P.A. Works were on Angel Beats, with 13 episodes in 2010, and Charlotte with 13 episodes in 2015.
