The wait for a new season of Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- has been long and arduous. The first season originally premiered back in April of 2016, and fans have been clamoring for more ever since then. We originally reported back in December that the highly anticipated 2nd season would be premiering this April, during the upcoming Spring anime season. Unfortunately, with just a mere month left until the premiere, the 2nd season of Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- has been hit with a sudden and shocking delay. Now, fans will have to wait until July to experience the action of the upcoming sequel season.
In a blog post on the official website for the 2nd season of Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-, the staff explained that “the global issues of the COVID-19 coronavirus illness have had a big effect on the production” of the anime, which is the reason for the delay from April to July. The staff will reveal a new air date, time, and broadcast channels at a later point in time.
While the full cast and crew for the 2nd season of Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- has not been revealed, much of the cast from the first series has been confirmed to be returning to reprise their roles in season 2. This includes Yūsuke Kobayashi, Rie Takahashi, Yumi Uchiyama, Inori Minase, Rie Murakawa, Satomi Arai, and Takehito Koyasu as Subaru, Emilia, Puck, Rem, Ram, Beatrice, and Roswaal, respectively.
Konomi Suzuki, who was previously the theme song performer for the first opening song of the original series, returns to perform a new song for season 2. Additionally, musician nonoc will be performing the ending song for the series, having previously recorded theme songs for the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Memory Snow and Re:ZERO Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Hyōketsu no Kizuna original video animations.
