We’ve seen too many series where parties and guilds ruthlessly toss people out. It’s time we see the complete opposite situation take place. A boy and his friends shared the same dream to become legendary adventurers. While they grew up to become peerless warriors, the boy never manifested any sort of special skill. Rather than letting him leave in shame, they made him their leader. We’ll see how his leadership goes when Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Woe Is the Weakling Who Leads the Strongest Party (Nageki no Borei wa Intai Shitai: Saijaku Hunter ni Yoru Saikyo Party Ikusei-jutsu), season 2, premieres on October 6th, 2025.
Tsukikage and Chyko released the original Let This Grieving Soul Retire! light novel on August 30th, 2018. Micro Magazine has published twelve volumes in the GC Novels imprint. Studio Zero-G’s anime adaptation premiered on October 1st.
Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Cast
The weakest leader and two of his much stronger friends are as follows:

- Krai Andrey — Kensho Ono (Giorno Giovanna from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure). A guy who dreamed of becoming a great treasure hunter. His lack of skills makes him want to quit.
- Tino Shade — Miyu Kubota (Karin Asaka from Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club). A solo thief who looks up to Krai. She wants to join his party.
- Liz Smart — Fairouz Ai (Power from Chainsaw Man). A thief and member of Grieving Souls. Merciless in combat, she leaves nothing behind.
Studio Zero-G has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Let This Grieving Soul Retire!. You can find additional series information and the Key Visuals there.

Harem or No Harem, Let This Grieving Soul Retire!
Krai Andrey and his friends strove to achieve their dream of becoming great treasure hunters. Each of them ascended and became peerless adventurers. All of them except Krai, of course. He didn’t manifest any special ability, and his growth rate was slower than theirs. Krai decided then and there to leave the party to not slow his friends down. His resignation was declined. Instead, they made him the leader of Grieving Souls.

The Grieving Souls is a legendary party known far and wide. Many people want to join their ranks, though they never open recruitment. Though Krai sees himself as unfit for the role of Clan Master, he can still get the job done. Just like his friends, he can hold his own in tense situations. He would rather not be in those tense situations to begin with. Many of those situations are presented by the different cute waifus who cling to his side.
