The Ramparts of Ice News, Cast, Staff
Koyuki makes her grand return on October 1st, 2026. Studio Kai animates the anime adaptation, with Mankyu ruling as director. Yasuhiro Nakanishi writes the series, Miki Ogino designs the characters, and both Kanade Sakuma and Natsumi Tabuchi provide the music. THE BEAT GARDEN will perform the opening theme song “Escort,” and Superfly will perform the ending theme song “Hanakage.”
The ice queen, her new friend, and a new foe are as follows:
- Koyuki Hikawa — Anna Nagase (Boxers, Isabella from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners). Koyuki is a girl with a chilly demeanor.
- Minato Amamiya — Shoya Chiba (Yu from Fire Force). Minato is a jovial boy who is perceptive of Koyuki’s self-imposed wall.
- Momoka Kuriki — Akari Kito (Nezuko Kamado from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). Momoka is a deceptively vicious girl who pursues Minato.

The Ramparts of Ice Are Crumbling
For those reading and watching along at the same time, Season 2 will cover manga chapters 72 and onward. It’s believed this season will cover the rest of the manga entirely, which ends on chapter 117. This also means that Season 1 covered chapters 1 through 71, which is impressive. Discuss in the comments how you think they did adaptation-wise. That aside, the second season seems to be kicking up the drama portion of the story.
Most of the PV is just people crying! That’s how they advertise the season; people crying? Imagine trying to suggest this anime to someone who has never seen it before, and it’s just people crying while it rains outside. Then you have the girl trying to make a move on the male lead, which will likely lead to more crying. I mean, I’ve already watched this far; may as well grab that box of tissues.

Koyuki Hikawa isn’t great with people and always puts up a wall between others. She had been spending her high school days alone, but one day meets the overly friendly Minato Amamiya. The loner, Koyuki, the popular girl, Miki, the guy with no personal space, Minato, and the laid back member of the basketball team, Yota… The story of these four somewhat awkward students in their bloom of youth begins!
Kocha Agasawa released the original The Ramparts of Ice manga series between January 10th, 2020, and April 28th, 2022. Shueisha published all fourteen volumes in its Jump Comics imprint. Studio Kai’s anime adaptation premiered on April 2nd, 2026.
