July 5th marks National Bikini Day, so we might be a couple days late to rightly celebrate the most iconic form of swimwear. Celebrations are ongoing on Twitter, both in English and Japanese. National Bikini Day is celebrated on July 5th because of one man — Louis Réard. Louis first introduced the modern two-piece bikini on July 5th, 1946. Since then, this day has been set aside to celebrate the revealing and tantalizing swimsuit.
With that out of the way, let us celebrate properly and show respect to the anime girls who best fill out the bikini.
1. Tohru and Quetzalcoatl / Lucoa (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid / Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon)
We all know that the thicc Lucoa prefers to wear fewer clothes, so she would naturally favor the most revealing swimsuit possible. Tohru likewise has an eye for style and a great need to impress Kobayashi. These two ladies happen to be immortal, all-mighty dragons. They can wear as little or as much as they want, and no one can stop them.
Coolkyousinnjya has been writing and drawing this series since May 25th, 2013. Futabasha has released thirteen volumes in the Monthly Action magazine since then.
2. Mio Naruse (The Testament of Sister New Devil / Shinmai Mao no Testament)
Another truly thicc anime girl to push a bikini to its limits. As we discussed then, Mio is willing to do what is necessary to seduce Basara. Her contract with him made her more thicc with time, and she helped him get the coveted harem ending. As such, she is not above wearing a bikini, or anything else, to catch his attention.
This series was written by Tetsuto Uesu and illustrated by Nekosuke Okuma between September 29th, 2012, and March 31st, 2021. It was published in the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint, reaching thirteen volumes of thicc demons and angels.
3. Aki Nijou (Maken-ki!)
Thicc anime girls really bring a bikini’s potential. As we’ve discussed previously, Aki is the school nurse at Tenbi Academy. She’s hot, and she knows it. She takes advantage of every opportunity to flaunt her figure, such as the obligatory beach visits. Girls wearing bikinis at the beach is not only accepted but also proper.
Hiromitsu Takeda wrote and illustrated all those thicc Maken users from April 20th, 2007, to March 9th, 2020. Fujimi Shobo published the series in 24 volumes.
4. Kirika Misono (Eiken)
Eiken‘s reputation precedes it, just like Agent Aika. You are definitely familiar with Kirika’s M-cup gravity-defying bust. A great mystery surrounds Eiken‘s anime adaptation, but that’s beside the point. Kirika is the Head of the Eiken Club and one to draft Densuke as a member. She loves him and accepts that he might love Chiharu more than her. Kirika openly flirts with Densuke and goes as far as washing him with her chest. She also doesn’t care if people see her naked. Kirika only wears panties when she wears a bikini, which is something we should all respect and admire about this top-tier anime girl.
Seiji Matsuyama has written and illustrated Eiken from April 26th, 2001, to August 5th, 2004. Akita Shoten published the series in eighteen volumes.
5. Miyuki Kobayakawa and Natsumi Tsujimoto (You’re Under Arrest)
Miyuki and Natsumi are capable police officers of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. They’re stationed at the fictional Bokuto Police Station in the actual Sumida ward in Tokyo. These two act like best friends and are as close as sisters. They’re willing to do anything to get the job done, even wearing bikinis while on patrol by the beach. Although people might want to be arrested by these two, raising the crime rate temporarily.
Kosuke Fujishima wrote and illustrated these two lovely officers between 1986 and 1992. Kodansha published all seven volumes by then.
As an aside, Kousuke would reuse Miyuki’s character design for Belldandy, the main goddess of Ah! My Goddess!.
6. Yoruichi Shihoin (Bleach)
Yoruichi is comfortable wearing as little or as much as she deems necessary. She’s very much like Lucoa and Kirika in that regard. Despite being more than comfortable showing her nude form to the likes of Ichigo, she wore a bikini to the beach. We would see her tattoos, and much more, without the inconvenient smoke or steam.
Tite Kubo wrote and illustrated this series from August 7th, 2001, to August 22nd, 2016. Shueisha published all 74 volumes by that point.
7. Nami and Nico Robin (One Piece)
The two top waifus of One Piece are rather famous for their revealing attires. Nami is especially renowned for her standard bikini tops. Like Lucoa, they’re powerful enough to care for themselves no matter what they wear. They wear particularly alluring bikinis in One Piece Film: Gold.
Eiichiro Oda began writing and drawing this series on July 22nd, 1997. Shueisha has published 106 volumes thus far.
8. Erwin / Riko Matsumoto (Girls und Panzer)
Erwin is the Tank Commander and radio operator of the Hippo Team, where she operates the StuG III tank. She’s an intelligent officer and well-read about World War II. She seemed comfortable in Girls und Panzer OVA 1, Water War! after someone asked her to wear a bikini.
Actas created this series as part of a multimedia franchise.
9. Nino, Yotsuba, Itsuki, Ichika, and Miku Nakano (The Quintessential Quintuplets / Go-Tobun no Hanayome)
The famous Nakano sisters, all of whom lucked out in the beauty department. Despite their varying personalities, they’re all quite comfortable wearing a bikini, especially in a water park with Futaro.
Negi Haruba wrote and illustrated the original manga series. Kodansha published all fourteen volumes of The Quintessential Quintuplets between August 9th, 2017, and February 19th, 2020, in Weekly Shonen Magazine.
10. Nana Iida (Rail Wars!)
Nana is a capable and lovely police officer like Miyuki Kobayakawa and Natsumi Tsujimoto. Rail Wars! has plenty of fanservice (source: Joeschmo’s blog). As with any good fanservice anime, there is an obligatory beach episode where the girls get to wear steamy swimsuits. Despite Nana’s role as the leader of the Tokyo Central Railway Public Safety Office Fourth Peacekeeper Squad, she also has to get into “uniform.”
Takumi Toyoda had written, and Vania 600 had illustrated Rail Wars! Japanese National Railways Security Force light novel between January 16th, 2012, and December 14th, 2020. Multiple different publishers had a hand in publishing the series’ twenty volumes.
11. Mirajane Strauss (Fairy Tail)
Mirajane is a powerful and famous wizard of the titular guild. She frequently models for Sorcerer Magazine. Given her beauty, kind nature, and willingness to wear just about anything, she likely sells more copies than any other model.
Hiro Mashima began to write and illustrate the series on August 2nd, 2006. Kodansha has since released 78 volumes across the different Fairy Tail manga series.

12. Shylily (Independent VTuber)
Shylily is an Orca VTuber who acts sweet and wholesome but doesn’t shy away from lewd things. She received a bikini some time ago and embraced showing off all its charming points.
Shylily first debuted on January 10th, 2022.
