Who Is Yuzuriha?
Yuzuriha is an infamously skilled kunoichi (female ninja) who enters a competition to win the Elixir of Life and earn a pardon from her death-row sentence. As she descends into the nightmarish world of Hell’s Paradise, Yuzuriha handles the dangers effortlessly with her ninjutsu. She proves critical to Gabimaru and Sagiri’s efforts to conquer the island’s true owners, making her far superior to a famous pink-haired kunoichi we could name…
Right, BellatrixAiden is a true kunoichi, performing this cosplay mission on a moonlit night!
Right, Nina Fenrir is dangerously sexy with that blade — don’t play with knives at home!
Now, what is a kunoichi? The term refers to female ninjas, but novelist Futaro Yamada originated it in the mid-’60s. However, that doesn’t mean it’s entirely inaccurate. The Bansenshuukai (a 1676 book compiling ninjutsu knowledge from early Edo-era clans) describes kunoichi-no-jutsu. This “ninjutsu of a woman” provides techniques for women to gather intelligence, gain trust, and eavesdrop on conversations. Life imitates art, and art is inspired by fascinating historical knowledge, don’t you think?
Right, MiihCosplay’s Yuzuriha stands out with a gorgeous, flowery backdrop.
Why Do We Love Yuzuriha?
Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku has a really strong cast of female characters, and Yuzuriha stands out for multiple reasons. Her ninjutsu skills make her an excellent fighter, both as a primary attacker and as support. Her main ninpou ability lets her “excrete” a sticky mucus from her pores, which she can then manipulate like ropes or weapons.
Right, A ninja needs to be flexible, and Anastasia Komori’s cosplay shows a great lunging stretch.
Putting suspicious liquids aside, Yuzuriha is just an entertaining character. She’s affectionate and friendly to Sagiri, hilariously bad at flirting with Gabimaru, and still smiling despite the pain of losing her parents and younger sister. We love strong women who can hold their own in the narrative and look amazing while doing it!
J-List has you covered for all your kunoichi needs, with kunoichi-themed lotions and lubes that would give Yuzuriha a run for her money!
Right, Shadory makes a sticky mess while showing us Yuzuriha’s ninpou skills.
Right, AlixxRosa offers us a gorgeous Yuzuriha with great set design.
What do you think about Hell’s Paradise and kunoichi like Yuzuriha? Do you also love female ninjas who can use both feminine wiles and ninjutsu skills? Join us in celebrating Yuzuriha’s birthday in the comments, and as always, thanks for reading!
