One reason we watch anime is to experience emotions that might not be available in our day-to-day lives. The thrill and fear that grips us as each episode of The Promised Neverland unfolds. The bittersweet stories that Makoto Shinkai likes to tell. The extreme highs and lows and highs of great works by Jun Maeda, like Clannad or the currently-airing The Day I Became a God. And of course, the massive dopamine/serotonin release we experience when watching a really cute couple find love with each other. I asked J-List’s awesome Twitter and Facebook followers to pick the cutest anime couple, and this is the list we came up with!

Yuuta and Rikka from Chu2koi
Love, Chuunibyo and Other Delusions is a masterpiece from Kyoto Animation about young people trying to get over their “8th graders’ disease” — the tendency for middle schoolers to deal with the new pressures of becoming almost-adults by creating internal fantasy worlds. Rikka and Yuuta are an adorable couple.
Tsukasa and Nasa from Tonikawa
One of the most charming shows of the current season is Tonikaku Kawaii, with features one of the cutest lovey-dovey anime couples in years. Read my separate blog post on Tonikawa here.
Sumi and Kazuma from Kanojo, Okarishimasu
A super shy girl who joins a rental girlfriend service to get over her social anxiety, Sumi would make a perfect proper girlfriend for Kazuma.
Kagome and Inuyasha
It’s not an overstatement to say that without Rumiko Takahashi, anime and manga wouldn’t exist as we know them today. While there are many cute couples in her various works, Kagome and Inuyasha might be the cutest.
Tomoya and Nagisa from Clannad
The first half of Clannad is a fairly standard harem anime, but the second…one of the most beautiful character dramas anime has to offer.
Inaba and Taichi from Kokoro Connect
An outstanding anime that makes us wonder seriously what we’d do if we suddenly exchanged bodies with classmates of the opposite sex…and whether it’s a good idea to admit to your crush that you’ve masturbated to them before.
Edward and Winry from Fullmetal Alchemist
Another cute anime couple is Ed and Winry. This would be a totally romantic way to propose to a girl.
Banri and Koko from Golden Time
Another anime that’s so adorable it can cause your blood sugar to rise is Golden Time. I love Banri and Koko’s cute romance.
Sakura and Syaoran from Cardcaptor Sakura
A cute anime couple that made a lot of hearts soar over the years is Sakura and Syaoran. They officially start dating in the Clear Card series, which was so heartwarming.
Holo x Lawrence from Spice and Wolf
Spice and Wolf is the show that teaches us that while the economics of fictional countries might be important, sometimes we should all slow down and give hugs to our loyal wolf-goddess waifu.
Takeo and Yamato from Ore Monogatari
Another cute anime couple we couldn’t leave off this list is Takeo and Yamato from Ore Monogatari. You can’t help but cheer for their love.
William and Emma from Victorian Romance Emma
An anime you might have missed, this is the story of a maid named Emma living in Victorian London. When the young master of the family she serves falls in love with her, despite the social barriers that keep a gentleman from marrying a commoner, they have to work hard to overcome them. It’s an anime like no other, and I recommend both seasons!

Taiga and Ryuji from Toradora
Finally, my pick for the cutest anime couple is Taiga and Ryuji. The show is just brilliant, a well-scripted story of two people assisting each other in winning the hearts of their crushes, but over time both come to realize they love each other more. It’s a great anime to re-watch every Christmas!
