Kyouka and Yuuki display their combined slave chain techniques against Kuusetsu in the Yokohama arc’s end.
Episode 11 — “Slave: Heaven”
Hmm.
Anime often softens the slave-master dynamic, transforming the taboos of power and domination into something palatable and entertaining. Sometimes it’s titillating, as in Chained Soldier and How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord. But behind the laughs and sexy fan service, someone still holds a chain and a slave collar around another’s neck. Chained Soldier laid down its view of what a slave is to a master in one scene. Here’s what it means and how it affects the show.

Master and Slave for Chained Soldier — Teamwork or Tool Work?
The epitome of a slave is his master’s tool, according to Chained Soldier. Yuuki leveled up and wore shiny golden armor. But his peak was total disappearance, fusing with Kyouka’s sword. Slaves are nothing more than objects, giving themselves to their masters’ wishes. You can dress it up with emotional caveats about teamwork and devotion. However, the root of slavery in Chained Soldier remains dehumanizing.
Thankfully, the dark side of Yuuki and Kyouka’s version of a slave-master duo swiftly shifts to its benefits and reversals during the reward ritual. The “master” loses control of her body and must suffer the whims of the slave’s subconscious desires. And that’s also the payoff for the audience putting up with and putting aside the moral questions about ownership. There’s a give-and-take in using Yuuki like a slave, and the viewers take in delectable skin in heart-racing situations.
The other fun takeaway from Yuuki’s reward system in Chained Soldier is how his growing harem’s members’ personalities react to the sexy submission play. Kyouka is a tsundere, we know, but look at how Tenka would like to volunteer. And then we see a 180-degree reversal in how Kuusetsu forces Yuuki’s body to move. It took a sex-curious demon god to show him what happens to the girls during the reward phase of the Slave power.
The Demon Girl of Your Dreams
Kuusetsu’s “end” raises deeper questions about what demons are and the supernatural powers their gods have. Chained Soldier found a way to defeat Kuusetsu and secure her as a permanent character. She’ll be around to explain the mysteries of the Mato and create fantasy settings beyond bedrooms, sandy purple rocks for outdoor play, and dormitory bathrooms. Yuuki is a healthy young man with a dirty mind, as Kyouka insists. Kuusetsu will revel in his perverted inner world.
Chained Soldier Makes Me Say Heh.
The episode picks up right where it left off last week: Yuuki wears golden armor, and Kuusetsu is still spamming clones everywhere. What does Yuuki’s vanilla Heavenward form do for Kyouka? Golden chains wrapped around Kuusetsu can crush her like an overripe avocado. The duo has developed new teamwork techniques around the extensible slave chain (See Chained Soldier, Episode 7). Still, Kyouka and Yuuki must pick out the original Thunder God to end the fight. Aoba can help because she can sense her friends’ energy signatures inside the source Kuusetsu. The clones lack them.
Kyouka developed a power-up, too, but Kuusetsu quickly learns how to mix and match her absorbed powers. She can clone individual body parts! Try that with your boobs next! For research purposes. Oh? Yuuki and Kyouka have perfected a Heavenward technique. How does it work? Uh oh! Kuusetsu has problems, too. She hasn’t absorbed Mira’s personality yet, so some of her clones are resisting!
Momentum shift. Chained Soldier’s opening theme music is now the background score. Here it comes. The perfect slave weapon: Yuuki becomes one with Kyouka’s blade. And the climax. Yuuki punched through Kuusetsu and rescued Mira, Coco, and Naon. We have confirmation that Coco and Naon’s black patterns were their naked skin if Mira came out without clothes.
Aoba, Coco, and Naon shared the Chained Soldier intermission card.
Kuusetsu, We Hardly Knew Ye — A Chained Soldier’s New Best Friend
What will happen to Kuusetsu now? Mira almost crushed her heart and defeated her, but Yuuki poked a hole through it. Ack! Kuusetsu became a vagina egg again! As if Kyouka would let those tentacles drag her inside the vagina dentata. Goodbye, Kuusetsu. And goodbye, Aoba? Tenka made a show of trying to capture the humanoid Shuukis before they “escaped” down into the sewers. Just in time, before Tobera and Maia arrived. And Yuuki collapsed after exhausting himself.
What? How is Kuusetsu in bed with Yuuki? Ah. She explained that her “nectar of the gods” let her stay inside his body. She’s a permanent character inside Yuuki’s inner world. Whatever that means! And the Thunder Gods are gods — they don’t “vanish” after losing corporeal forms. Chained Soldier’s world became more complicated.
Shojo Banchou Wants to Hold Hands First
Oh, good. Now Yuuki is awake for real. Nei orders her junior to stay in the bed he’s been sleeping in for two days after the Yokohama incident. Is it okay for him to take a bath? Yup! Because Kyouka’s body said it’s time for Yuuki’s reward. Tenka wants to join the fun of her own volition. Can shojo banchou Mira screw up her scruples for more naked screentime? Mira’s recounting of how she resisted Kuusetsu’s insides reminds me of Gleipnir. Chained Soldier already has a puppy-brained freak, so Ren could make Yuuki wear a dog costume. Whoops. Yuuki’s reward ritual trumps Mira’s debrief. Poor shojo Mira — how can she share a bath with Yuuki when they haven’t even shared a day journal yet? She has old-fashioned views on dating. Will Mira dare to enter the bath with Tenka and reward Yuuki? No.
Yuuki’s reward is ours too for enduring Chained Soldier’s Yokohama shonen anime arc. Tenka will follow whatever Kyouka’s body does. Come on, Yuuki. You should know by now that trying to distract Kyouka with exposition does not postpone the enjoyable sensations. Kyouka and Tenka are now aware they share Yuuki’s body with Kuusetsu. And shojo Mira still can’t take off her clothes for Yuuki. The only solution is for Kyouka to lend him to her so that she has no choice but to bare her naked self.
Chained Soldier, the Next Chapter of Fan Service
Oh? That might happen sooner than later! Kyouka and Mira spar with the intention of dissecting Mira’s flaws in fighting Kuusetsu. The 2nd Squadron Commander realized that she shouldn’t have met the enemy god head-on during a city protection mission. What! Is our cliffhanger for the season finale about revealing Yuuki’s slave form for Mira? And what would Yuuki require from her as a reward? Now I’m impatient.
That was quick. Kuusetsu turned Yuuki’s world into a school fantasy with all the characters attending. Nice epilogue from Chained Soldier! Fubuki and Varvara are sexy teachers. Ren acts like a class rep, while Kyouka sports, unsurprisingly, a disciplinary committee armband. Weirdly, though, the fantasy school has an assortment of uniforms. Do they match Yuuki’s fantasies for which girls wear which uniforms? How about his sexual fantasy of getting jiggy in an empty classroom? Oh, no. Yuuki’s poor dreamworld stamina cock-blocked Kuusetsu from finally getting the D!
Next time, the season finale covers how the Thunder Gods react to Kuusetsu’s defeat. And Kuusetsu introduces the Slave High School eroge in the omake.
Chained Soldier (魔都精兵のスレイブ, Mato Seihei no Slave) streams on Hidive in Japanese audio with English subtitles.
What are your feelings about Kuusetsu joining Yuuki’s harem? I like how she’ll keep trying to seduce him with the help of his fantasy versions of the other Demon Defense Force girls. Did you enjoy gawking at the girls in different school uniforms? Share your favorites in the comments!
