Christmas is fast approaching, and everyone knows what that means: time to re-watch our favorite Christmas-themed anime series. I asked J-List customers what anime they loved to rewatch in December, and we got some great responses. Let’s explore the best anime to rewatch around Christmas!
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid
One anime we just love, it’s fun to re-watch any time of year, but the Christmas episode (episode 13) is especially great.
The Pet Girl of Sakura-sou
Another beloved anime about a pantsu-challenged genius girl who loves baumkuchen cakes, episode 14 is the one you want to watch.
Gabriel Dropout
Another fun anime to rewatch around Christmas, it’s got great characters, especially Satania. Episode 9 is the Christmas episode.
K-On!
The girls have fun celebrating Christmas, Japan-style. Episode 7 of season 1 is the episode to watch.
Lucky Star
A classic that became a gateway drug for many otakus reading this now, let’s all re-watch the Christmas anime episode (#11) together this year!
The Fairy Tail Christmas OAV
A bonus episode that’s great for getting into the spirit of Christmas. You might want to make sure your family’s not in the room for this one.
The Kiss x Sis Christmas Episode
Another legendary anime to rewatch around Christmas! When Keita, Ako, and Riko accidentally get alcohol delivered to their karaoke room, they get drunk, and all kinds of sexy shenanigans begin.
Amagami SS
One of the best Christmas anime series, it’s got a genius structure: six heroines, each of whom gets a proper three-episode story arc that all end on Christmas Eve with each girl’s arc resolving. One of my top 10 anime series ever!
Kanon
One of the timeless anime based on a Key visual novel by Jun Maeda, it’s filled with wonderful winter themes and is a great Christmas anime to revisit this December. Make sure to watch Kyoani’s 2006 version, not the inferior 2002 series.
Clannad…?
Not my pick for an anime to rewatch around Christmas, but several followers said they re-watched it this time of year. Episode 21 is the Christmas episode from Clannad After.
Toradora
The Holy Grail of Christmas anime series to rewatch around the Holidays, Reddit has an annual Toradora Rewatch Club where fans watch an episode a day starting December 1st. The Christmas episode is #19 if you just want to rewatch that.
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl
The film that ties up the Seishun Buta Yaro nicely, this masterpiece might become a new anime to rewatch around Christmas for me!
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
