Welcome to Demon School Trades Babyls for the Babel Mafia
The original Welcome to Demon School! follows a human boy sold to Sullivan, adopted as his grandson, and enrolled at Babyls while hiding his humanity. IruMafia is an alternate-universe action comedy, not the next chapter of that school story.
Here, Iruma grows up poor in a crime-ridden slum but still shares his food with an injured elderly stranger. That stranger happens to be Don Sullivan, head of the Babel Mafia, who adopts him and puts him in line to become the family’s young boss. Welcome to Demon School has traded classroom survival for criminal succession. Iruma brought kindness to a turf dispute. Bold negotiating position, kid.
The Familiar Cast Enters a New Family Business
Welcome to Demon School gives its familiar troublemakers new occupations. Alice interviews for a subordinate position, while Clara jumps into the spotlight as a circus clown. The recruitment department apparently accepts balloon animals.
Cast
- Ayumu Murase — Iruma, the generous slum boy promoted toward young-boss status.
- Mitsuki Saiga — Opera, a formidable slum native and early ally.
- Ryouhei Kimura — Alice Asmodeus, a passionate candidate for Iruma’s crew.
- Ayaka Asai — Clara Valac, the circus-clown wildcard in this family portrait.
- Daisuke Ono — Kalego Naberius, the Babel Mafia executive who keeps the family’s finances in order.
- Saori Hayami — Ameri Azazel, the gang boss who leads the slum’s street crew.
These principal performers reprise their Welcome to Demon School characters in alternate-world roles.
Staff
- Director — Keiichirou Kawaguchi
- Series composition — Kazuyuki Fudeyasu
- Character design — Kenji Fujisaki
- Music — Yayoi Sekimukai
- Animation production — Tatsunoko Production
The anime adapts Hiroja’s Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun: IruMafia Edition manga, based on an original concept by Osamu Nishi. The genre swap comes with a studio change: Bandai Namco Pictures animates the main anime, while Tatsunoko Production animates IruMafia Edition. The production crew handles the animation. The Don handles the family business.
J-List’s Favorite Genre Makeovers Make Good Company
J-List’s Yohane the Parhelion coverage introduced a fantasy-world remix of Love Live! Sunshine!!, with recognizable personalities transplanted into magical Numazu. Welcome to Demon School pulls a comparable switcheroo, except the new neighborhood comes with a Don.
Isekai Quartet sends action-heavy isekai casts into a chibi school-life crossover, giving familiar characters wildly different surroundings and problems. Welcome to Demon School reverses that commute: out of class and into the family business. The shared appeal is watching recognizable personalities handle unfamiliar occupational hazards. Same faces, new turf. Somebody tell Iruma that “making a killing” is not an instruction.
Where to Watch Welcome to Demon School: IruMafia Edition
Welcome to Demon School: IruMafia Edition begins on January 4, with twelve episodes scheduled. NHK ONE will offer simultaneous and catch-up streaming in Japan. International distribution and dub plans remain unannounced.
Family Business: Welcome to Demon School keeps its strongest bargaining chip: Iruma’s generosity turning strangers into family. The mafia makeover moves those familiar bonds from school halls to the Don’s table. An action comedy powered by aggressive decency sounds like an offer Iruma fans can’t refuse.
