August is already packed to the brim with entertainment options, so how about we tip the scales even more with another big premiere date?
On Monday, July 20th, one of the official Netflix Twitter accounts revealed that the highly anticipated third season of the hit series Aggretsuko will hit the streaming service on Thursday, August 27th!
The series centers on a red panda named Retsuko who lives a boring, dreary, and frustrating life as an office worker in Japan. While she has some friends at work, she’s mostly just going through the motions in her daily life and trying to survive as best she can. In the first season, Retsuko deals with a misogynistic boss and a very aloof boyfriend who can’t be bothered about much of anything. The only thing that keeps Retsuko sane is her favorite hobby: death metal karaoke.
In the second season, the primary focus was on Retsuko being pushed into getting married thanks to a well-meaning but overbearing mother. Eventually, while taking driving lessons, she meets a mysterious new man who has more going on in his life than Retsuko actually realizes.
No word on what the story focus of season three will be but one can safely assume that Retsuko will deal with more annoying and gossipy co-workers, a misogynistic boss, and other crazy adult life shenanigans.
So far, Netflix has released two full seasons and a Christmas special. The first season, which was announced in December 2017, was released worldwide in April 2018. They released the second season the following year in June 2019, with the Christmas special released before that, in December 2018.
With so much anime getting delayed over the last few months, it’s crazy exciting to get this bit of news. If you haven’t checked out Aggretsuko, there’s no better time than the present to binge through this title and laugh yourself silly.
