A proud female knight led the charge during a years-long campaign into the hostile east. Facing inevitable defeat, she challenges the enemy leader to a one-on-one duel to allow her people to retreat. Though she fell in battle, the enemy decided to take her alive. We’ll see how things go for her when The Barbarian’s Bride (Himekishi wa Barbaroi no Yome) premieres sometime in October 2025.
Noriaki Kotoba released the original The Barbarian’s Bride manga series on January 9th, 2021. Kodansha has published nine volumes in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.

The knight, the barbarian, and the servant are as follows:
- Serafina de Lavillant — Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi from Bocchi the Rock!). The First Knight Commander of Ildren’s 17th East Expedition Army. She is known as the “Crystal Helmet.”
- Veor — Satoshi Inomata (Gomez from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). The heir to the barbarian tribe and their finest warrior. He is known as the “Thundervoice.”
- Cersei — Hana Hishikawa (Aki Sizuha from Touhou Danmaku Kagura). Veor’s faithful servant and Serafina’s attendant.
Studio Jumondou has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote The Barbarian’s Bride. You can find additional series information and Key Visuals there.

The Barbarian’s Bride Lost a War but Gained a Husband
Serafina de Lavillant led the Ildren Kingdom’s 17th East Expedition Army. They advanced far in the barbarian-run lands but met defeat after their seven-year campaign. Serafina decided to sacrifice herself to save as many of her men as possible. She engaged the enemy general to the best of her ability but still fell before him.

Veor took her as a “spoil of war” and placed her in a fortified prison. Rather than torture or other such horrible things, Veor’s staff cleaned and dressed Serafina. Veor fell in love with her at first sight and continued a generational tradition of marrying a female knight from the Eastern Expedition Army. Serafina was not expecting a genuine confession of love from the man who dominated her in battle.
