Live-Action Laid Back Camp Gets Second Season

Get ready to be hit in the feels all over again!

In an announcement made on November 5th, 2020, a second season of the live-action adaptation of the manga series Laid Back Camp (YuruCamp) was revealed. The second season will air in the spring 2021 season, in Japan. The first season aired in January 2020 and was quite well received by fans of the original series. 

The cast of the series will include (going clockwise from the top left): Sara Shida, Yumena Yanai, Momoko Tanabe, Haruka Fukuhara, and Yuno Ohara.

Based on the manga created by Afro, the series features a group of girls who grow closer through the hobby of outdoor winter camping. The manga series has been licensed by Yen Press and Crunchyroll licensed the anime.

Laid Back Camp is very much an iyashikei (healing) series with very calm tones and gentle laughs to help you get through your weekly grind. The series opens with a girl named Nadeshiko who passes out after trying to reach Mt. Fuji in the winter. When she wakes up, she finds out that she’s been saved by a girl named Rin who loves to do winter camping on her own as a hobby. The pair instantly become fast friends and begin to share the unique hobby together while making new friends along the way. 

So far the manga series has ten collected volumes on shelves in Japan, while the anime has had a second season and spinoff series green-lit. The spinoff series, Heya Kyan△ (Room Camp), premiered in January 2020, while the second season will premiere in January 2021. 

If you’ve ever had someone tell you that anime is nothing but nudity and violence, sit them down in front of this series just to show them the depths a simple camping anime can reach. The premise of the series sounds quite simple, but the execution makes it one of the best healing productions of the last few years.
