Kson, everyone’s beloved souchou VTuber, has achieved her dream and gained a role in the upcoming Yakuza video game Like a Dragon Gaiden the Man Who Erased His Name (Ryu Ga Gotoku 7 Gaiden Na wo Keshita Otoko). The “7” in the title lends to the fact that it will bridge the events of Yakuza 6 The Song of Life, which was released on December 8th, 2016, Yakuza Like a Dragon, which was released on January 16th, 2020, and Like a Dragon 8, which will air sometime in 2024.
For those new to the Yakuza, which also goes by the name Like a Dragon, the trailer for Like a Dragon Gaiden the Man Who Erased His Name should help to explain some things.
Kazuma Kiryu returns to the series as the central protagonist after the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and now lives under the false name of Joryu to act as the hundredth disciple of the Daidoji Temple. Players will navigate around an open area to get into fights while clearing missions.
So where does Kson come in? Well, she’s been a fan of the series for quite some time, even when she used the VTuber name “Kiryu Coco.”
Kson was declared a finalist in the contest for various high-profile maidens to become hostesses in the game all the way back in February. Her legion of fans was obviously excited. She celebrated appropriately a day later.
Kson got her wish and will become a hostess in Like a Dragon Gaiden the Man Who Erased His Name, per the official announcement from the Ryu Ga Gotoku official Twitter page.
Kson took to Twitter to post a victory picture with a friend, declaring her victory and assuring her fans of her presence in the game, along with another tweet thanking them for their support.
The VShojo official Twitter page also sent their congratulations.
Apparently, the fight still isn’t over, however. While Kson is in the game, one of the hostesses will be given the grand prize: to determine who gets to appear in Like a Dragon 8, so the race is still on.
The hostess minigame in Like a Dragon Gaiden the Man Who Erased His Name, also known as a “cabaret game,” where players go to these clubs to have “pseudo dates,” which consist of talking and drinking. Kson’s voice and likeness will appear in the game, so this will be the closest her devout fans will likely get to go on a date with Kson.
It seems almost a shame that she won’t be usable in combat like Nyatasha Nyanners was in Like a Dragon: Ishin!, but we can dream of how epic she would be in a fight.
