Can you remember how long it’s been since we got a yakuza-themed rom-com? I can’t. I know it probably hasn’t been long. But in the anime world, if that answer is more than a season, it’s been an eternity. But that streak of absence ends today! Well, actually it ends next year. J.C. Staff has announced a January 2027 anime adaptation of Umihoshi Nanai’s Kizuguchi to Hotai (Wound and Bandage) manga. The studio released two visuals alongside the adaptation news.
The anime’s production company launched a website and social media pages for the upcoming anime.
J.C. Staff hasn’t announced the anime’s VAs. But the production staff for Kizuguchi to Hotai includes:
- Miyuki Ishida (Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive’s assistant director)— Director
- Natsuki Oyama (Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive’s character designer) — Character Design
- Susumu Yamakawa (The Way of the Househusband’s series composer) — Scripts
While no Western streaming service has announced the anime, ABC and TV Asahi’s Animazing!!! programming block will air the show in Japan.

Kizuguchi to Hotai Manga Details and Synopsis
Umihoshi Nanai writes and illustrates Kizuguchi to Hotai. Comic Days (Kodansha) has serialized the manga since August 2024. Kodansha has since released four volumes of the manga and will ship the fifth volume of Kizuguchi to Hotai on Thursday (July 16).
Wound and Bandage follows the romantic life of Riyo Washizu and Go Kiritani. Despite her kawaii and amenable nature, Riyo hides a rather unsavory trait. She’s the daughter of the Kanto region’s yakuza boss. And true to her crime-ridden upbringing, Riyo gleefully enjoys seeing people’s weaknesses, especially when they’re strong. Unfortunately for her new caretaker, Go Kiritani, all he knows about his new ward is that she’s a kyuuto-composed beauty. That illusion doesn’t last long. But when the real versions of Riyo and Go-kun meet, the flames of love start to smolder!
