We’re now less than a month away from the new season of anime, which means it’s time for the floodgates to open and promotional videos to flow out!
Today we’re looking at a series we’ve talked about a couple of times on this blog, Kakushigoto. Set to premiere on April 2nd, 2020, the series which adapts the manga of the same name created by Kouji Kumeta (Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei) has released a brand new promotional video and key visual ahead of its premiere.
The nearly two-minute trailer introduces the story of a father who works secretly as a manga artist while living with his young daughter. Things are going fine until one day she discovers his secret career and they must face the uncomfortableness together.
According to the official website, studio Ajia-do Animation Works will produce the animation for the series. Yuuta Murano directs the series, working off series composition created by Takashi Aoshima. Shuuhei Yamamoto will provide the character designs, and Yukari Hashimoto will compose the background music.
In the lead roles will be Hiroshi Kamiya as the father character, Kakushi Gotou, while Rie Takahashi will play the daughter, Hime Gotou (who is replacing Chika Anzai from the original manga promotional video that was released earlier).
In a separate announcement, Funimation revealed on Twitter that they will simulcast the series in both the original Japanese and also in English shortly after the series premieres in Japan.
With Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei being such a hit with the fans of dark comedy, Kakushigoto seems like a serious departure for the author. I, however, am more than happy to give him credit for trying something new and much more light-hearted and will watch this series intently upon its April streaming premiere.
