Leading streaming platform Netflix announced on Tuesday that they will be producing a 10-episode live-action series adaptation of the popular anime series Cowboy Bebop. The company have not yet to announce the official release date but a report by entertainment website Variety confirms that production has been ongoing since last year.
The live-action adaptation will be co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios. Netflix will be handling the physical production, along with producer Marty Adelstein (Teen Wolf and Prison Break) and Becky Clements (Last Man Standing and Good Behavior) from Tomorrow Studios.
Christopher Yost (screenwriter of Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok) is confirmed to write the live-action adaptation’s first episode. He is also credited as executive producer.

Key people confirmed to be involved in this project are Cowboy Bebop’s original anime director Shinichiro Watanabe as the consultant, Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio as showrunners and executive producers. Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements (Tomorrow Studios), Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise (the animation studio behind the original Cowboy Bebop anime) are also credited to be involved in this production.
Cowboy Bebop centres on a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters namely Spike Spiegel, Faye Valentine, Radical Ed, and Jet Black as they escape from their own pasts and take down the most dangerous criminals of the solar system.
