Lesson 9 — “A Weak and Wimpy Fireworks Display”
Every hero or villain has an origin story. They don’t pop up on your manga page or video screen without seminal moments forging their strengths and weaknesses. Yowayowa Sensei uses Episode 9’s summer festival to explain how the dojikko-moe Hiyori-sensei matured enough to reward us with lucky-sukebe. She somehow dodged traffic accidents and broken bones. Who saved her growing up? Now we know. Hiyori-sensei’s sickly childhood and overprotective mother explain how a socially awkward teacher lacks stamina, never jumped rope, and never attended a summer festival. Akihito’s support also gains more weight because he is helping a sheltered dojikko-moe adult explore the outside world one fireworks show at a time.
A Sickly and Sheltered Childhood for Yowayowa Sensei
Hiyori-sensei’s sickly childhood reframes the festival as novel, not a familiar seasonal outing. Her stunned joy over a candy apple and her awe at the fireworks display gain context once she admits she only watched them on TV as a child. The episode turns those small reactions into character development, showing that her innocence proves she never experienced those things before. She was a candy-apple virgin!
Her struggles with putting on a yukata for the first time work the same way in Yowayowa Sensei. Akihito helped Hiyori-sensei fix it in private, which turned into bawdy slapstick. But the scene still hinges on her lack of ordinary social experience. She is learning customs and gaining confidence at the same time, which makes the comedy part of her growth. Girls usually learn how to put on a yukata from female relatives, so the revelation about Hiyori-sensei’s overly strict mother adds depth to her past.
Stick Out Your Neck? No! Must-Protecc!
Her overprotective mother also explains how Hiyori-sensei bravely tries anything outside her comfort zone. But she’d still rather do things herself than rely on others. The earlier scenes in Yowayowa Sensei of the weak and wimpy teacher practicing student names or physical training now have tones of defiance and stubbornness. When Akihito carries her up the hill to the Abikura siblings’ special fireworks spot, the scene emphasizes that you can try new things together! The comic princess-carry marks an important step toward choosing adventure with friends and loved ones. Hiyori-sensei might never have had close friends, either, because of her mother’s strictness.
Hiyori-sensei’s habit of taking copious notes and fascination with marine animals make treating emotional confusion like a research subject unsurprising after Yowayowa Sensei, Episode 1. The fireworks overwhelmed her, and Akihito’s concern left her with “strange feelings,” so she ran confirmation tests with given names, head pats, and co-sleeping as if she were collecting field data. The funniest part of that scene was her conclusion and how the Abikura siblings bullied her with spoiling attention.
Yowayowa Sensei’s ninth episode also hints that Mrs. Hiwamura may become the measuring stick for how far Hiyori-sensei has come. If the season returns to her mother after the indoor pool reputation-rescue arc, we’ll see whether Hiyori-sensei can appear more confident in public and show that confidence to the person who once kept her sheltered.
The must-protecc instinct doesn’t have to mean placing the dojikko-moe in bubble wrap. How could you ever have panchira from a lucky-sukebe scene that way? And will we compare Mrs. Hiwamura’s assets and front sets to her daughter? Please put oyakodon fanservice on the table, Yowayowa Sensei!
Yowayowa Sensei Makes Me Say Heh.
Look at the excitement on Hiyori-sensei’s face! It’s like she’s never had a candy apple before, or attended a summer festival, either. She even said it in English! What kind of town does Akihito live in? Why would a shooting gallery booth offer sexy cosplay sets as prizes? Did J-List sponsor the booth? Yuuki failed, but Mizuki received the consolation prize. She promises not to break the hair clips.
Hiyori-sensei looks like she’s enjoying herself at the festival, but did something go wrong with her yukata? What more will the girls of the photography club put Akihito through? He’ll help Hiyori-sensei before the fireworks show starts. In private! Hoho. Yowayowa Sensei checks off the boinking-in-the-woods-at-the-festival hentai tag. Hiyori-sensei wore her yukata properly! Buck naked! Akihito must reach deep inside to tuck the fabric into the correct places. Maybe asking one of the girls to help would have been better. Not Mizuki, because she would have torn the robe to shreds. And not Yuuki, because she would have fondled Hiyori-sensei’s boobs instead of wrapping them up.
Funny Feelings and Fireworks Explode!
Yowayowa Sensei arrives at its dramatic scene for the fireworks show. The weak and wimpy teacher exhausted all her stamina during the festival, so Akihito has to carry her up to the Abikura’s “special” spot to watch it. But before that, Hiyori-sensei revealed her sickly childhood, watching fireworks on TV, and her overprotective mother stopping her from trying new things. Akihito refused to let her quit now. It’s a princess-carry up a hill! Way to go, shonen!
He missed the fireworks, though, because Hiyori-sensei smushed him with a faceful of oppai, as usual for Yowayowa Sensei. Aw. She forgot to take pictures because the lights and booms overwhelmed her. But she also worries about Akihito’s extra efforts to help her. Hiyori-sensei finally asked the boy why he tries so hard for her. Boobs. It’s called boobs. He spells it L-O-V-E, but it’s O-P-P-A-I. So now, Hiyori-sensei has “strange feelings” for him. What does she mean?

Yowayowa Sensei — Method to Mad Science
Akihito has hopes about a love confession after Hiyori-sensei says her theory about her feelings is “something prohibited between students and teachers.” Good for her. She starts the experiments without stating her theory. That’s a good application of the scientific method, so she doesn’t bias any results.
- First experiment — Say her first name without honorifics! Akihito has a good memory, and he didn’t call her “Hiyo-chan,” either.
- Second experiment — Head pats! I don’t know what Hiyori-sensei took from that, but she scribbled many notes.
- Third experiment — Lying next to her in bed! Akemi shows the most excitement. Hiyori-sensei calls it “co-sleeping.” How could they sleep together like that? Akemi was in the same bed!
Hiyori-sensei claims that she knows what the strange feelings are. Yowayowa Sensei, survey says, “Her mother!” Huh? Oh. The Abikura siblings have been watching out for Hiyori-sensei. And that protectiveness makes her feel like a child wanting her mother to spoil her more. Something’s spoiled, all right. Extra spoilage for their next-door neighbor! But later, Hiyori-sensei felt extra shyness beyond “the mommies.”
Microkinis and Bikinis are Back to the Future for Yowayowa Sensei
Oh my. More microkini study sessions for Mizuki and Yuuki, but they’re at Akihito’s house. Whoa! Watch out for the strong and sturdy gyaru punches! Aw. Yuuki still reels from Akemi’s fawning, spoiling behavior from the photography club’s training camp. Will tickling punishment motivate Mizuki and Yuuki? It worked on Hiyori-sensei’s nipples! The girls almost finished their homework, but rules are rules. Except Hiyori-sensei volunteered to sacrifice her body! Nope. Mizuki and Yuuki still get the tickles, but only half as much.
Ooh! Next up on Yowayowa Sensei — the pool episode! Maimai and Momopi join the festivities because the Hiyori-sensei reputation rescue operation is still in effect. Kaya-senpai agreed to help. But the pool prohibits cameras! The plan already faces headwinds. Can Hiyori-sensei’s cute swimsuit make her appear more friendly? Not if her dojikko-moe-lucky-sukebe powers ruin things!
