Retirement should mean fewer assassination contracts, not a teaching assignment at murder school. Armed with a pen and an alarming résumé, one retired legend has another obstacle between himself and a quiet family dinner. Sakamoto Days returns in January 2027, sending him into an assassin academy. Apparently, protecting domestic bliss now requires checking the faculty handbook.

Sakamoto Days Sends Its Retired Legend Back to School
Taro Sakamoto retired from assassination after falling in love, becoming a husband, father, and neighborhood storekeeper. Keeping that life intact remains his priority, even when former colleagues make an ordinary shift impossible.
Sakamoto Days sends him and his mind-reading partner, Shin, undercover at JCC, the assassin-training institution, to investigate X, also known as Slur. Sakamoto infiltrates as a student teacher disguised as his wife, Aoi, while Shin poses as a student. Meanwhile, ORDER members Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi face an unexpected attacker during an assignment in Kyoto. Sakamoto Days expands its conspiracy without abandoning its favorite contradiction: a family man navigating a profession that refuses to leave him alone.

Sakamoto Days brings familiar voices back alongside new faces from the assassin establishment.

The anime continues Yuuto Suzuki’s ongoing Weekly Shonen Jump manga, available in English through VIZ’s print editions and Shonen Jump service. Sakamoto Days changes directors while retaining its composition, design, music, and studio core. Daisuke Nakajima takes the lead, while Season 1 director Masaki Watanabe moves into supervision. So, different management, familiar equipment.
Retirement Promises Peace. Everyday Life Has Other Plans.
J-List covered the previous Sakamoto Days season’s announcements about its split-cour broadcasts. “The Expert Hitman Retires” introduced the quiet goal behind the chaos: a family, a store, and a life after assassinations. “Assassins Continue to Wage War” followed Sakamoto Days through Season 1 Part 2. Retirement sounds restful until everyday life starts assigning jobs.
That makes “The Way of the Househusband is Way Too Short!” a fitting domestic-comedy companion. Its former yakuza lead, Tatsu, brings underworld intensity to household duties. Meanwhile, Sakamoto Days gives its retired assassin actual killers to handle alongside family responsibilities. Both men traded criminal careers for domestic commitments. Neither secured a quiet grocery run.
The comparison even follows them into live action. Sakamoto Days has a live-action film with Ren Meguro as Taro Sakamoto. And The Way of the Househusband brought Hiroshi Tamaki’s Tatsu to both television and a movie. Apparently, neither man needs animation to make a simple errand look like a high-risk assignment.
Where and When to Watch Sakamoto Days
Sakamoto Days Season 2 begins broadcasting in Japan in January 2027. The exact date, network, airtime, and episode count remain unannounced. Netflix is confirmed internationally, but territory details, release time and date, subtitles, dub plans, and release pattern remain pending.
Season 1 streamed weekly across both parts, so here’s hoping Netflix keeps that rhythm instead of dropping everything at once. Fans deserve some breathing room between assassination attempts.
Final Checkout: Sakamoto Days makes assassin school the next inconvenience for a man protecting his family. The JCC infiltration and Kyoto trouble expand the action without losing that domestic anchor. Somebody, keep the checkout counter warm.
