Oni girls fans, rejoice! New details about the hero knight and his new horned waifu have emerged since we first covered The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects.
Dias is a strong and proud warrior who has worked hard to uphold his parents’ ideals. He became a kind and dependable man, even in the face of a long and arduous war. The king decided to grant him a fiefdom as a reward for his heroism. That fiefdom happens to be in the middle of nowhere and consists of a large open plain of grass. Seems more like an exile than anything, doesn’t it? We’ll see how Dias handles his new lot in life when The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects (Ryomin 0-nin Start no Henkyo Ryoshu-sama) premieres on July 10th, 2026.

Fuurou released the original The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects novel on the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro on January 20th, 2018. Kinta provided the art for the light novel adaptation, which debuted on October 16th, 2018. Earth Star Entertainment has since published fourteen volumes in the Earth Star Novel imprint. Yumbo provided the art for the manga adaptation, which debuted on December 25th, 2018. Earth Star Entertainment has since published fourteen volumes in Comic Earth Star.
The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects Cast
The lord and two of his new friends are as follows:
- Dias — Kenichirou Matsuda (Bond Forger from Spy x Family). Dias is a kind and brave war hero who is more brawn than brain.
- Alna — Shion Wakayama (Henao Jazz from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury). Alna is Dias’ guide and friend.
- Mall — Kujira (Human God from Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation). Mall is the Oni Folk’s chief.
Animation studio42 maintains a website and a Twitter (X) account to promote The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals at those sites.
The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects and Plenty of Neighbors
Dias is a kind and generous warrior who gives his all to protect and aid those around him. He stayed true to his parents’ final wishes for him before they passed away. Dias kept so fervently to their wishes that he signed up to fight in a terrible war at the age of 15, and stayed on the front lines for the next twenty years until the war ended. His deeds made him a hero among the knights and earned him an award from the king. Dias would be getting a fiefdom, a territory all his own.
The Netross territory is apparently an unsettled grassland. Well, that’s according to the kingdom. In reality, the native Oni Folk still reside there even after losing a war. Dias’ purity and honesty have earned their trust and friendship, and his unparalleled strength and masculinity have earned him a bride. He managed to hunt 30 black buffalo and an Earth Dragon in just a couple of days. Yes, the ladies are already pining for him. He has truly earned a hero’s reward.
