November 7 marks the birthday of one particular Russian-Japanese schoolgirl — the beautiful “solitary princess,” Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou. Better known by her nickname of “Alya,” this frosty tsundere is all about cold glares — but under her breath, she’ll reveal her true thoughts in Russian. Thus, we have the series title: Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian (or, if you prefer the Japanese shorthand, Roshidere). There’s no better way to celebrate her birthday than with the very best cosplay of Alya Kujou!
Join us today as we sit beside the demanding but beautiful Alya and enjoy gorgeous cosplay for her birthday!
A Revolution for Our Alya-chan!
You know how these cosplay columns go: You come looking for a few lewd images of your favorite waifu, and you depart with some cool facts. Let’s discuss the date our beautiful Alya was born, November 7. The date coincides with the 1917 October Revolution, when the Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, overthrew Russia’s provisional government and established what would later become the Soviet Union.
So, why’s it called the October Revolution? Well, while the rest of the world had already adopted the now-ubiquitous Gregorian Calendar, Russia was still using the old Julian Calendar — making it October, not November, for them. As for why the calendars are different? It’s because the Gregorian Calendar skips a leap year in years divisible by 400, more closely aligning with Earth’s solar journey. The Julian Calendar — still used to observe Orthodox Church holidays — always takes a leap year, resulting in significant drift over the centuries.
Now that you’ve crammed for your Russian history final, let’s check out the sexiest cosplays for Roshidere‘s Alya!

Alya Cosplay: Only the Best For Our Milashka
Roshidere heavily emphasizes the high school girl Alya speaking her private thoughts in Russian, without realizing that the object of her affection (classmate Masachika Kuze) also understands Russian. Throughout the anime and the original light novels, Alya has a few reliable phrases that she frequently uses.
Here at J-List, we couldn’t bear the thought of you misunderstanding the hot Russian girl sitting next to you! To help your love life blossom, here are a few of Alya’s favorite phrases, translated from Russian:
- Милашка (Milashka): Cutie
- Эй, обрати на меня внимание (Ey, obrati na menya vnimaniye): Hey, pay attention to me!
- …круто было (Kruto bylo): …It was cool
- Изменник (Izmennik): Cheater/Traitor (in a romantic context)
We sincerely hope you don’t hear the last one too often!
