Episode 12 [END] — “I’m Glad I Met You”

Hmm.

As an anime “otaku of culture,” I must have heard the phrase “climbing the stairs to adulthood” dozens of times. The context is often escalating physical contact in a relationship, culminating in sex at the top. It’s similar to America’s concept of reaching first base (kissing) to reaching home plate. That’s where the slang of “scoring” with a partner comes from. In anime, characters associate “climbing the stairs to adulthood” with holding hands or noticing their feelings of attraction to someone else. Yandere Dark Elf didn’t show it, but heavily implied that Hinata and Mariabelle reached the top step, becoming sweaty naked adults together.

However, adulthood also means putting away childish things, and the anime also featured that idea. We’ve known Sakura, Hinata’s friend and classmate, to have a crush on him since Yandere Dark Elf, episode 1. But after becoming friends with Mariabelle and recognizing Hinata’s other life in another world, she realized her girlhood crush already had a life partner. And she acknowledged she had to let go of her feelings for a boy that never existed. Sakura also climbed the stairs to adulthood by holding the pieces of her first broken heart.

We can see the differences between physical and emotional maturity when we compare these two “firsts.” The first time having sex is gaining an experience and losing the purity of virginity. Likewise, the first broken heart means acquiring the perspective of loss while shattering the emotional barrier protecting us from disappointment. Sexually active adults no longer have childlike purity, and an adult point of view prepares for adversity without unrealistically blind hope. Yandere Dark Elf found that twelve minutes were enough time to portray two versions of innocence lost.

Beach episode, part 2! Mariabelle enjoys her swimming lessons because she’s holding Hinata’s hands. The tanned waifu never had to learn how to swim because she always cast water-walking magic on herself. No using magic! Use this floatie instead, Mariabelle. Mei is always ready to take pictures and stream video. Oops. Mariabelle fell off the banana raft. Luckily, her life vest worked, so she didn’t need Hinata to rescue her. But she’ll still reward him! Aw. Mariabelle wishes for a moment alone with Hinata.

No more games with the sunscreen lotion, but a yandere dark elf suggestively licking a popsicle is an acceptable replacement. Mei suggests the group try another swimming race. How quickly does she think Mariabelle learned how to swim? Oh. Hinata competes against Cecil while the others watch. Uh oh. We have a naughty dolphin! It cheated and helped Mariabelle win the swimming race! It likes Sakura the best, though. Or the breast! It stole Sakura’s bikini top! New quest for the Hero’s Party: rescue Sakura’s modesty! Quick work. But stop waving the flimsy fabric around like a flag!

Sunset. Does it feel romantic? Mariabelle has a notion for an ocean to steal away with Hinata. Sakura supports her new friend as she says goodbye to her crush on her classmate. Yandere Dark Elf shows a season recap before Hinata’s romantic, dramatic moment. Mariabelle loves this world and Hinata. We knew about that last one, okay? The Hero voices the episode title, “I’m glad I met you.” Yay! An anime boy confessed his feelings! One more time! Mariabelle wants to hear it again! And they kissed! That’s how you use a beach sunset.

Can Yandere Dark Elf Drag a Pure, Pure Boy up the Stairs?

Another school day. Has anything changed? We’ll see what night maneuvers Mariabelle has planned for Hinata. She wants dessert, but not the sweet stuff. Salty and bitter? Oho. Hinata agrees not to “hold back.” Ah. This scene will supply the yandere moment for Hinata’s line. Mount up, Mariabelle! He said the Yandere Dark Elf line, “Ai ga omoi,” one last time! Extra tongue action on that deep kiss. Now, dessert! Did they do the deed? Indeed, they did! The End.

Final Thoughts on Yandere Dark Elf.

Why are so many naked anime elves coming to Western streaming platforms in short-form shows? Plus-Sized Elf did it before Yandere Dark Elf, but both played around with all the sexual fetishes horny otakus love. Have we reached peak reverse-isekai naked elf status? The hentai anime industry has all the sexy elf material we might need. But I would have preferred a hentai anime adaptation. Could it still go the route Princess Lover! (2009) took? That anime season of an ecchi visual novel later produced two hentai episodes, so anything is possible. Sure, Nakano Sora had better financial outcomes from the manga adaptation and later anime. Still, I wonder what a hentai anime studio like Lune Pictures would have done. The animation quality would have been better than Studio Elias, at the very least.

Still, I’m grateful whenever ecchi anime makes it to streaming. Uncensored shows like Yandere Dark Elf have historically stayed on AT-X late-night broadcasts. Meanwhile, heavily bowdlerized versions (to the point of ridiculous hilarity in some cases) landed on streaming platforms. These companies finally figured out that horny otakus have money to spend! J-List wouldn’t be around without them!

Yandere Dark Elf, Darker, Heavier, Lovelier?

One last question, “Will we see more of Yandere Dark Elf in anime form?” Doubtful. Its manga is currently releasing chapters, but the anime adaptation already gave the final step Hinata and Mariabelle would take to end that story. I mean the love confession, not the sex scene. It seemed like the lovey-dovey couple consummated their love, but did they? A yandere dark elf MILF could arrive in an OVA just in time to stop the duo from doing the dirty deed. You never know!

Yandere Dark Elf: She Chased Me All the Way From Another World! (Chotto dake Ai ga Omoi Dark Elf ga Isekai kara Oikakete Kita) streams on Hidive in the “least censored” web version, in Japanese audio and English subtitles. These reviews relied on the uncensored AnimeFesta versions.

I had one disappointment that no adult perspective could soften its blow — no last connection to Gushing over Magical Girls at the beach! Boo! One naughty dolphin does not replace a perverted octopus monster. Other than that, I enjoyed gazing at Mariabelle’s mocha skin tones in the sunset light.
