And that’s where gender-swap anime shines — it combines hot waifus with the soul of a dude! So, join me through this quick jaunt into the wonderful world of guys with boobs.
Gender-Swap Anime — Onimai: I’m Now Your Sister!
Mahiro Oyama once lived an enviable life. Having decided society wasn’t for him, the self-described “home security guard” is a veteran NEET, one who spent his days playing erotic novels and refusing to venture outside his home. Had Mahiro had his way, an easy life of provided food and playing Nekopara (THE DREAM) lay ahead. But his prodigy sister was having none of it. So, in a callous move, she gave him an elixir that turned him into her, attempting to help him make something of himself. Yet with his pee-pee gone and now in the body of a kawaii loli, Mahiro’s future is murkier than ever.
Oniichan wa Oshimai! is probably the best-known (and the most recent) gender-swapping anime on this list. And while its hype may have already garnered plenty of fans, it’s a show I always recommend. It’s one of those shows that has a deeper plot than what you’d imagine it has. Sure, it’s going to make anime tourists complain. Vehemently so. You can’t tell some stories unless you’ve experienced them, and today’s world is reducing shared connections. So, while Onimai: I’m Now Your Sister! may take an unconventional approach to personal growth and friendship, this story has a lot of love. Couple that with gratuitous fan service that caters to busty waifu and loli lovers alike, and it’s no surprise otaku love this gender-swap anime so much.
Studio Bind’s (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Flower and Asura) 12-episode anime adaptation is streaming on Crunchyroll. Nekotofu has published Oniichan wa Oshimai! via their Pixiv since February 25, 2017. The ongoing manga has been in print by Ichijinsha since June 2018. Onimai: I’m Now Your Sister! has also been a doujin.
Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout
Ideally, one’s partner should be one of their closest friends. A lot of lifelong romances start between friends. And while that’s a kawaii sentiment, it’s also what the less enlightened like to use to justify why male/female friendships aren’t possible.

That’s the story that the gender-swap anime Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to tells.
After a booze-filled mixer, Hinata Tachibana and Jinguuji Tsukasa (childhood friends and 30-year senior citizens) stumble back home. Having always felt inferior to Jinguuji and flustered by all the female attention that his friend got, Tachibana begs the gods to make him irresistibly charming. As if she were waiting for that moment, then and there, a goddess took Hinata’s request while teleporting him and Jinguuji to another world. When the duo awakens to the news that they must defeat the demon lord and his minions, they’re greeted by a bigger surprise. Hinata is now the perfect woman — petite, blonde, and positively alluring! She’s everything any man of culture could want. And now that the pair is on opposite ends of the gender spectrum, they realize that the other would make a solid partner. Finding each other irresistible, how did their new adventure play out?
Crunchyroll streams the OLM Studio 12-episode gender-swap anime adaptation. Cygames’s Cycomi manga app/website has serialized the Yū Tsurusaki (illustrations by Shin Ikezawa) since November 2019.
Gender-Swap Anime — Gonna be the Twin-Tail!!
We live in a profoundly polarized world, yet anyone who knows me knows I’ve never once worried about (INSERT WAR/ISSUE OF CHOICE). Why? Because there are twin-tailed waifus, and that makes up for everything else. That’s a sentiment Soji Mitsuka deeply sympathizes with. So infatuated was Soji with this hairstyle that he spent his days dreaming, rating, and thinking of twintails. His love for twintails is so great that when monsters from outer space launch an attack on Earth to take all of the twintails, he becomes the hero humanity needs. With the help of an ultra-dimensional woman named Twoearle, he became a gender-swapped, twin-tailed warrior! With the help of two other twintails lovers, Soji sets off to fight the evil that has taken hold of our planet.
Crunchyroll streams this comedic, gender-swap anime in select territories. Production IMS animated the 12-episode Fall 2024 TV anime. While its premise sounds absurd (and is), this is one of those shows you turn to after a bad day. It sets out to make you laugh and delivers on that promise. And while not overtly ecchi, there’s enough fan service to put a smile on one’s face.
The anime adapts Yume Mizusawa’s (illustrated by Ayumu Kasuga) light novel of the same name. Shogakukan’s Gagaga Bunko serialized Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu between June 19, 2012, and November 19, 2017. Shogakukan’s recently launched Novelus app carries the English version of the light novel. This gender-swap anime also has a manga adaptation by Ryouta Suzuki. Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan serialized the manga.
Gender-Swap Anime Rules!
Androgyny is hot, and I’m not saying that because I went through a glam metal phase in my teenage years. But even hotter is knowing that a waifu has guy-like tendencies. Or better, a guy at heart. I know I’m not the only one who thinks that, seeing as how years after Fate/Apocrypha and Steins Gate premiered, I still see people gushing over Astolfo and Ruka. After all, most weebs have, at some point, fallen for a waifu from a gender-swap anime. Even Kirito from SAO can be a hot girl when he feels like it. And let’s not talk about that one dude in Naruto who had a lot of us questioning our sexuality.
