It’s been a while since we saw that initial brief trailer for Suicide Squad ISEKAI. Harley Quinn, as designed by Akira Amano, the creator of Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, is great. Wit Studio released a new trailer and a reveal stream with some character stills. Plot details are still scarce at this point, but we have a release window of 2024. So it’s only a matter of time.
The titular Suicide Squad was created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Ross Andru. The team first appeared in the pages of The Brave and the Bold, starting in September 1959. The modern iteration was penned by John Ostrander and appeared in Legends in January 1987.
Some of our unlikely isekai protagonists in Suicide Squad ISEKAI are as follows:
- Dr. Harleen Quinzel / Harley Quinn — Anna Nagase (Boxers, Isabella in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners). A former psychiatrist who fell in love with an evil clown to become an iconic foe of the Dark Knight.
- Basil Karlo / Clayface — Jun Fukuyama (Yumichika Ayasegawa in Bleach). An actor whose disfiguration necessitated a special cream that could restore his handsome face. An incident gave him the ability to transform entirely.
- Joker — Yuichiro Umehara (Sekido in Demon Slayer). A psychotic clown capable of untold destruction. Not yet confirmed to appear in the other world.
Wit Studio and DC Comics update fans on Twitter (X) and a home page that is, unfortunately, region-locked. Ideally, fans would find new Key Visuals there.
Wit Studio’s Isekai Journey
Producers from Production I.G founded the studio on June 1, 2012. Wit Studio has worked on some of the best anime series of this decade. This studio’s works exist all over the industry and defy genres. Wit Studio is working with CloverWorks to animate SPY x FAMILY. The same studio animated the Fate/Samurai Remnant opening, different entries in the Pokémon franchise, and Onipan!.
The Suicide Squad’s Unexpected Isekai Adventures
We don’t have exact plot details about Suicide Squad ISEKAI, but we can infer some details from the trailer. Harley and Joker are going on a joy ride and causing rampant chaos just because they can. Amanda Waller, the head of Cadmus, oversees a gigantic, glowing green thing. Harley, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark find themselves in a medieval world of magic and monsters. Their transport crashed, so we don’t know whether this excursion was an accident. The Suicide Squad fights off a group of beasts and regains their old gear to do what they do best.
