For normal isekai heroes, the story is fairly simple: they’re summoned to another world, they complete their objective, and one of two things can happen: 1) they return to their original world or 2) they stay in the new world. For the isekai hero of Summoned to Another World…Again?!, nothing follows the standard formula — the hero comes from a world of swords and sorcery, gets reborn into a modern world, only to be summoned back to his original world to save the day again.
The trailer highlights action scenes, the hero who knows how this story ends, and cute magic girls, ahead of the scheduled spring 2023 release date.
While the Summoned to Another World…Again?! home page offers lore, character images, and a voice actor list, the official Twitter account provided a dramatic key visual to further hype up fans.
Summoned to Another World…Again?!, known in Japan as Isekai Shōkan wa Nidome Desu, or Summoned to Another World for a Second Time, follows Setsu Suzaki and his classmates as they’re summoned from modern day Japan to Eclair, a world of magic and demons. Setsu was originally from Eclair, until he saved the world and returned home to the Human Country, where the King feared that the hero would use his incredible power to overthrow him. Thus, Setsu was reborn in another world.
Years later, Setsu is summoned back to Eclair, with the rest of his classmates drawn there with him. While Setsu seems disinterested in following the Human King’s orders, he and his classmates will find plenty of adventures to keep them busy. Especially Setsu, since there are plenty of girls, and not just from Eclair, who seem very interested in him.
Summoned to Another World…Again?! first appeared as a light novel written by Kazuha Kishimoto and illustrated by the popular artist 40hara. The series was published online from March 2015 to December 2016 on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, a popular novel website. Nine epilogue chapters followed to properly close the story and were published from February 2017 to October 2020.
Summoned to Another World…Again?! was acquired by Futabasha, who handled both the light novel publication and a manga adaptation that began publishing in June 2018, featuring art by Arashiyama. Fans of the series can check it out at Futabasha’s Web Comic Action website.
Studio Elle has taken up the task of adapting this beloved light novel series to anime format, and it is set to premiere in Spring 2023.
