This has been one of the best anime seasons I can remember, as delays from COVID caused several major anime series to push back for a season or two. The result has been more quality anime shows in one season than ever seen before, and I watched *19* new and continuing series, which is quite a lot of work. The current anime season also provided us with some outstanding “seasonal waifus,” cute female characters that were fun to obsess over together on social media. I asked J-List’s customers to share their best waifus of the season, and here’s what we came up with!
Who Were the Best Seasonal Waifus of the Winter 2021 Anime Season?
One fun series was Kakure Dungeon, a real “turn off your brain and enjoy the fanservice” show. It gave us one of the best seasonal waifus, Emma Brightness, a childhood friend who’s always happy to make out with the main character and give him a nice view up her skirt.
Horimiya was a positively adorable school romance, and it was great watching the relationship of Hori-san and Miyamura-kun. I highly recommend it!
There were a lot of great moments in the winter 2021 anime season, like the time Eris tries to give Rudeus a special gift for his birthday. pic.twitter.com/3baBiJTGu8

My personal pick for seasonal waifu was Eris Boreas Greyrat from Jobless Reincarnation, a fiery tsundere who is so well-written, it’s hard not to fall in love with her as the story unfolds.
Ghislaine, the Black Wolf Sword King, is the protector and teacher of Rudeus (at swordsmanship) as well as his student (at magic). She’s also his instructor of the female anatomy.
Read my post on Jobless Reincarnation here.
The five sisters in Quintessential Quintuplets are all entrants in the contest for best seasonal waifus. Can you pick just one? I can’t!
My post about this great series is here.
Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki-kun had some great waifus, including Minami and Fuuka. Which girl will end up winning?
Wonder Egg Priority is a great show, one of the top stars of the season, and all four girls were awesome to watch. Personally, I really loved the Neiru, always so stoic and serious.
A lot of fans loved the various girls in Redo of Healer. My personal favorite was the Setsuna, an ice wolf who becomes Keyaru’s slave in return for his help in freeing her people.
I know we all had a lot of anime to watch this season, but I hoped people kept up with #BEASTARS season 2? It was enjoyable, and moved the story of Legs, Haru and Louis-senpai forward in interesting ways, resolving questions raised in season 1. pic.twitter.com/4acSI5fXk8

BEASTARS is the genius anime by Studio Orange that explores the gritty reality a society of carnivores and herbivores living side-by-side would face.
