How Does J-List’s Personal Warehouse Service Work?
Everyone reading this probably loves buying fun anime figures, manga and doujinshi from their favorite artists, naughty “dolphin polishers,” and so on from Japan. Some customers might want the convenience of buying now, but want their order held until they’ve built up $200 or $300 of products, then having them sent all together. Using the new J-List Personal Warehouse service, we can hold your orders until you want them sent!
Let’s say you see some awesome doujins on the J-List store. You want to buy them because of how fast they sell out, but you don’t need them sent right away. Just register with the new J-List Personal Warehouse service, and we’ll flag all your orders and store them safely for you until you want us to send them. When your order is ready, let us know. The J-List staff will pack them up for you, recalculate the shipping, and send them. (Naturally, we’ll refund any extra shipping that was paid, saving you on shipping costs.)
Then there’s the issue of the new import taxes for customers in the US, after the ending of the $800 de minimis exclusion on packages coming in from abroad. If you make three orders with three doujinshi each, you’ll presumably be asked to pay an import tax three times, with a processing fee on top of that. Sending a single, larger order will not only reduce your overall shipping costs, but also lower any taxes you need to pay!
Free Storage for Six Months? How Do I Sign Up?
Signing up for J-List’s new service is easy and free. Just open a ticket via the J-List support website and ask our staff, “Please add me to the new Personal Warehouse system.” From that point on, we’ll flag all your future orders for local storage, saving them until you want us to ship them!
The details:
- Pay for your order and shipping as usual. We charge shipping at this point in case we don’t hear back from you within six months, or you decide to ship your order, and the fee is unchanged. We’ll refund you if there is any overcharge.
- Free storage of all Japan-based orders for up to six months from the date of the first order. Your products will be picked up and held safely by our staff in a designated spot.
- If you’d like to add custom orders via our Megumi Express proxy buying service, that’s fine! We’ll automatically store all items together until you want them sent.
- When you want your saved orders shipped, just reach out to our staff via the ticket system again. We’ll package your order and refund any shipping overcharges.
- Everybody wins! You can order whatever you want, and have it shipped whenever you like!
