I’m smitten with dark-haired, delusional waifus. Because of that, KonoSuba’s Megumin holds a special place in my soul. So infatuated am I with that deranged explosion maniac that even my non-anime friends send me Megumin stuff to brighten my day. However, the other day, that posed a challenge. I got a picture of a perfect Megumin cosplay, but despite my extensive search, I wasted my initial efforts. I did, however, stumble onto Chipa’s A Pretend Offline Sex Meet-up With a Megumin Cosplayer. I also discovered Kagiro’s Megumin artwork, so my search was still a win. Another thing I stumbled on was KDcolle’s Megumin Cosplay on the Beach 1/7 scale figure. And to my luck, we at J-List have it!
The KDcolle’s Megumin Cosplay on the Beach 1/7 Scale Figure — Summer Is Coming
I swear on all my doujins that Mexico had like six cold days in late 2024. Five years back, a January hike occurred in 40° to 60° weather, but now it’s low 80s° at best. But it’s not all bad. Summer and its atrocious heat bring bikini waifu merch, and that’s what the Megumin Cosplay on the Beach figure gives us.
This UR piece of KonoSuba merch reminds us of days when spending a day at the beach wasn’t a health hazard. The figure is an ode to the long-gone playful days of summer, featuring the no-fly list waifu in a pirate costume and a modest but kawaii red and striped bikini. Fundoshi’s paintwork is meccha gush-worthy. From the dark and muted tones of Megumi’s jacket and hat to the lustrous sheen on her inflatable shark and the shade of her hair, the Megumin Cosplay on the Beach figure is a solid 10/10 in the paint department.
Its sculpting doesn’t lag, as everything from the flow of the figure to the beach-themed base with clear water and playful splash is masterful. The movement of Megumin’s accessories is true to her stance, and the oversized props make her svelte frame even more noticeable. And that makes her more adorable. (Oversized shirt gang, where you at?) Available as a preorder, this kawaii figure retails at $190. The energetic-looking figure stands at 9.4″ (24 cm) and is based on an illustration by Kurone Mishima.
KonoSuba! What’s It About?
When famed gender equality activist Kazuma Saito meets a tragic and laughable death, a goddess gives him another chance at life. However, when she pushes too many of his buttons, he demands that she accompany him in his new life. To the goddess’s chagrin, Mr. Feminism sweeps her away to a fantasy realm with him. Once there, the mismatched duo heads off to conquer the Demon King, or at least that’s the plan. But when a masochistic knight and a highly flammable loli join their ranks, that goal becomes a far more challenging task.
The KonoSuba light novel ran from October 1, 2013, to May 1, 2020, and compiled seventeen volumes. The franchise boasts three TV anime seasons by Studio Deen (Seasons 1 & 2) and Studio Drive (Season 3). J.C. Staff released the animated theatrical film KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! — Legend of Crimson on August 30, 2019.
