Today is a day of mourning for ecchi fans around the world as a mere 24 hours before the series World’s End Harem was set to premiere, globally on both Japanese airwaves and on Crunchyroll, the official website posted a notice saying that the series is going to be delayed until January 2022. At least around the world. Japanese fans are still getting to see episode 1 as a special advanced screening but the rest of the series will not actually air inside Japan or stream outside Japan until January.
For once though, the staff behind the series attempted to provide fans with some kind of explanation for the delay instead of the usual catchphrase of “various circumstances”. In the statement released to the official website, it was noted that the series had to be delayed in order to “closely examine” the anime’s production. What this means exactly is anyone’s guess, but it’s certainly better than outright saying “We done screwed up.”
As previously reported, this will probably go down as the horniest anime of 2021. In the series, the main story starts in the year 2040, when a young man named Reito Mizuhara is put into cryostasis until a cure for his rare disease can be found. Awoken five years later, Reito discovers that while he was in stasis, a mysterious disease known as the Man Killer has caused 99.9% of the male population to perish. Now he must enter a special program where his mission is to impregnate as many women as possible in order to rebuild the human population.
I will not end this article with any jokes about how sad it is that ecchi fans aren’t going to get their hardcore fan service anime this season because I know what it’s like to face delays on anime that you’re really looking forward to (I watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica as it aired, and the three-week wait for certain episodes was torture). Instead, I offer my empathy to those fans who are affected by this delay and hope that you can wait patiently for January to roll around.
