World’s End Harem has a premise that is so simple and straightforward that it makes me wonder why no one has ever done it before now.
In this sci-fi harem series which is adapting the manga of the same name, the story takes place in the not too distant future. It stars a young man named Reito Mizuhara who is put into cryogenic stasis until a cure can be invented for his rare disease. When he wakes up five years later, he learns he missed out on a deadly viral outbreak known as MK (Man Killer) which has killed 99.9% of the men in the world. Having developed an immunity to the MK virus, they put Reito into a special program where he, and five other men from Japan, must impregnate as many women as possible in order to rebuild the world’s population.

World’s End Harem will premiere on October 8th, 2021. Furthermore, in an announcement revealed on Twitter, the staff over at the Japanese anime channel AT-X announced the series will receive a special “AT-X Version” of the series hidden behind an age restriction. That’s right, the horniest series of the year is getting an extra horny version.
First announced back in May 2020, this anime adaptation will be produced jointly by Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ. Yuu Nobuta is serving as the director working off scripts written by Tatsuya Takahashi. Crunchyroll has already revealed that they will stream the series worldwide (excluding Asian territories) once it premieres, though it’s unclear on which version they will put up on their website.
For those of you who are new to anime, hearing that the series will get an “AT-X version” might mean nothing. People who are deeper into this hobby, however, likely had a Pavlovian response to the mention of AT-X because it guarantees uncensored fan service. It’s as though someone looked at any single one of the promotional videos that have been released so far and thought “You know what would be great? More fan service.”
I’m willing to give World’s End Harem an opportunity to impress me within three episodes, as I don’t want to automatically dismiss it just for having a weak premise. I will admit though, if World’s End Harem really wants me to stick around for the entire run of the series, they have an uphill battle ahead.
