Keiichi Arawi and Kyoto Animation have teamed up once again! Their prior collaboration in 2011 brought the legendary Nichijou anime to our screens. City the Animation marks KyoAni’s first brand-new original production since the tragic arson attack that claimed 36 lives. As such, this anime is going to be a must-watch. Like Nichijou before, City follows the fun and wild antics of cute girls who go on wacky adventures just living out their everyday lives. We’ll see Midori try, like heck, to avoid paying her rent when City the Animation premieres on July 6th, 2025.
Keiichi Arawi released the original City manga series on September 29th, 2016. Kodansha has since published thirteen volumes in Morning.
The Mont Blanc Trio heroines are as follows:
- Midori Nagumo — Mikako Komatsu (Yutaka Shinozaki from My Tiny Senpai). A reckless university student who spends more money than she has.
- Ayumu Niikura — Aki Toyosaki (Momo Belia Deviluke from To Love Ru). Midori’s very patient friend who dreams of becoming a photographer.
- Wako Izumi — Yui Ishikawa (YoRHa No. 2 Type B (2B) in Nier: Automata Ver1.1a). Midori and Ayumu’s airheaded friend.
Kyoto Animation has maintained a home page, an Instagram page, a TikTok page, and a Twitter (X) page to promote City the Animation. You can find additional series information and the key visuals there.
Midori Finally Gets a Job in City the Animation
Midori, Ayumu, and Wako live fun and exciting lives in the city of City. Yes, the city’s name is City. The city of Townsville is down I-1998. Midori and her friends attend Mont Blanc University, though Midori doesn’t act like it. She spends her money like it’s going out of style and runs afoul of the landlady and the friends she begs for rent money.
This university student wasted all her money on horse races and is two months behind her rent payments. Midori flees her apartment and runs into Ayumu, who, in turn, flees from her. The chase leads Midori into stealing a statue to sell, getting too high of an offer, accidentally destroying the statue, and agreeing to work at a restaurant the landlady owns. It’s just another day in City.
