Nekoko released the original The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System novel series on the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro on April 25th, 2021. Jaian provided art for the light novel adaptation, which debuted on June 2nd, 2022. Kodansha published four volumes in the Kodansha Ranobe Books imprint. Lee Brocco provided art for the manga adaptation, which debuted on February 11th, 2022. Kodansha published sixteen volumes in the Young Magazine KC imprint.
The Exiled Heavy Knight Cast
The titular isekai protagonist, his cute clown friend, and an unhinged swordswoman are as follows:
- Elma Edvan — Takeo Otsuka (Aquamarine Hoshino from Oshi no Ko). Elma is an isekai protagonist who favors a heavily underestimated class.
- Luce Rubis — Shion Wakayama (Henao Jazz from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury). Luce is a cute clown thief. That makes her Best Girl.
- Maris Edvan — Natsuko Abe (Lasa, Lalu, and Lize from Farming Life in Another World). Maris is the unhinged Sword Saint who usurped Elma’s place in his family.

The Exiled Heavy Knight Min-Maxes His Way to Glory
Elma Edvan has only recently regained his memories of a previous life. He’s found himself in his favorite VRMMORPG, Magic World. Elma hopes to regain his preferred class, one that his fellow gamers dismissed as garbage. With that, he thought of living a good and adventurous life. The day he unlocked his Heavy Knight class was the end of his comfortable life. His father derided his class, slapped him down, and disowned him. A crazy-eyed girl named Maris received the Sword Saint class and Elma’s inheritance.
Elma immediately went to work to build himself up as he had before in Magic World. He proved his might against a powerful monster, earned the respect of an adventurer’s guild official, and recruited a cute clown thief named Luce. Her party used and abused her without seeing her true worth. I mean, besides being a clown girl, she has a skill that increases her luck to astronomical levels. Elma’s going to be fine, even if his world differs from the video game he played in his previous life.
