Magical Explorer Arrives in October to Teach Us How to Get an Elf Harem

Every cultured weeb would love to be reincarnated into an eroge with an elf harem! But what if your sexy reincarnation placed you in that world and didn’t give you the harem you’ve always dreamed of? That unfortunate scenario is what Kosuke Takioto endures in Magical Explorer: Reborn as a Side Character in a Fantasy Dating Sim. And come October, you’ll be able to laugh at his plight!

But for now, Majieku‘s production team released a visual, trailer, and additional staff news. Studio WHITE FOX will animate the adaptation with Kazuki Ohashi as the director. Additional production staff includes:

The Ins and Outs of Magical Explorer: Reborn as a Side Character in a Fantasy Dating Sim

Every so often, an eroge reaches mythical status. It becomes the kind of game that cultured otaku crave. After all, the game gives its protagonist twelve eroi elves! And if players get the game’s DLC, there are twelve more bangable heroines! So when Kosuke Takioto is reincarnated into Magical Explorer, he thinks it’s a wet-dick life from now on, but it isn’t so! Instead of being reborn as the game’s dashing hero, he’s reborn as the hero’s yes-man! So unfortunately, Kosuke’s new life is doomed to be devoid of sexy time.

But Kosuke has a reverse UNO card: he knows the game, he loves magic, and those things let him cheat the system. And cheat the system he does. After all, he wants his elf harem!

Iris first released Magical Explorer (Magikaru Ekusupurora: Eroge no Yūjin Chara ni Tensei Shita kedo, Gēmu Chishiki Tsukatte Jiyou ni Ikiru) via Shosetsuka ni Naro in February 2018. Kadokawa Shoten acquired the web novel the following year and published it as a light novel with illustrations by Noboru Kannatsuki. They have since released thirteen volumes.

Yukari Higa adapted Magical Explorer into a Young Ace Up manga in August 2020. Yen Press publishes the English version of the manga and light novel.
