The production committee behind the upcoming series In/Spectre would like to request that your eyeballs be aimed squarely at them on January 11th, 2020, when the series premieres in Japan.
On November 21st, a brand new key visual and two new fifteen-second commercials were released to the Internet, both of which hint at just some of the supernatural action we can expect from this series.
Based on the manga adaptation of the original novel series written by Kyo Shirodaira, In/Spectre (Kyokō Suiri) will premiere on January 11th, 2020. The novel series began its run in 2011, while the manga adaptation began in 2015. In 2018 the series was nominated for Best Shonen Manga at the annual Kodansha Manga Awards. As of early 2019, the series has over two million volumes in print. Kodansha Comics is currently publishing the manga series in English and released volume ten of the series in October 2019.
Veteran anime director Keiji Gotoh (Endride, Kiddy Grade, Sengoku Collection, Uta~Kata) will direct the series at studio Brain’s Base, while Noboru Takagi (Durarara, Kuroko’s Basketball, Sankarea, My Little Monster) will take care of series composition. Takatoshi Honda will provide the character designs.
In terms of the voice talent attached to this project, we know that Akari Kito and Mamoru Miyano will play the lead roles of Kotoko and Kuro, respectively. Supporting them will be Misato Fukuen as Saki, Sumire Uesaka as Karin, Kenji Hamada as Detective Terada, and Mayumi Sako as Rikka.
As mentioned, this series has already been licensed by Crunchyroll, who describes the story as:
Both touched by spirits called yokai, Kotoko and Kuro have gained unique superhuman powers. But to gain her powers Kotoko has given up an eye and a leg, and Kuro’s personal life is in shambles. So when Kotoko suggests they team up to deal with renegades from the spirit world, Kuro doesn’t have many other choices, but Kotoko might just have a few ulterior motives…
