Final Fantasy VII Remake Posts Opening Movie to YouTube

Back in September, we were all treated to a three-minute trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake. Today, however, we have something even better… the completely reimagined opening movie in both English and Japanese! You’re right though, the less introduction you have to read before getting to enjoy these treasures the better. Let’s just all bask in them together for now and I’ll meet you further down.

English:

Japanese:

While I can’t say anything about the story or gameplay, if that opening movie is the quality standard throughout the entire run of the game, we are in for a virtual feast for the eyes! That opening sequence with the bird flying over the city looked absolutely masterful and the moment when the little girl looks up and the green reflects off her eye was stunning.

Originally released in 1997 (though development for the title started back in 1994) for the Playstation, Final Fantasy VII became one of the most beloved titles in the franchise’s history. The story follows the hero named Cloud Strife who joins a terrorist organization that is bent on stopping a huge corporation from destroying the planet by using its life essence for energy. For those who came from a later generation and didn’t have the opportunity or the time to play through this instance, I won’t spoil anything else about the story but you can certainly expect some fantastic plot twists to be thrown your way. The title has gained a reputation for being one of the best Japanese role-playing games ever and was awarded “Game of the Year” honors by many critics and outlets.

The remake will hit store shelves worldwide on April 10th and I just know that a bunch of people will be calling in sick to work on April 11th!
