Attention all bookworms! Isekai anime Ascendance of a Bookworm is back for Spring 2020, and a new promo has been released for Part 2 of the series. The promo picks up where Part 1 left off, with heroine Myne, (originally a young woman named Motosu Urano) continuing her quest to become a librarian in a feudal fantasy world where general literacy is low. While that in itself might be a snag for most, Myne continues to work with what she’s given by becoming a priestess. A smart move, as traditionally, monks, nuns, priests, and priestesses were the second most likely members of the populace to be literate outside of the nobility in feudal times and were often in charge of copying manuscripts. Though it looks like it won’t all be smooth sailing for Myne, even if some of those bumps in the road look like a country on the brink of war. Check the promo below for more:
Part 2 of Ascendance of a Bookworm will also be getting an English dub, as well as two new OVA episodes, premiering on March 9th. These OVA Episodes will be bundled with a limited edition version of volume 22 of the light novel in Japan. The episodes are titled “Justok’s Downtown Invasion” and “Corinna’s House Visit.”
“Justok’s Downtown Invasion” deals with associates of High Priest Ferdinand looking for information on Myne, but only if they can deal with leaving the lofty side of the city first! “Corinna’s House Visit” is set before Myne’s baptism, and sees Corinna, a high ranking member of the Seamstress’ Guild pay Myne and her family a visit about Myne’s hairpieces. Negotiations ensue. The side stories come from volume 9 and volume 3 of the light novel, respectively. There’s no word yet on whether the OVA episodes will also get an English dub.
