Hentai games with actual gameplay are rare to come by, and when they come, sometimes the gameplay feels a bit basic or uninteresting. There are some games that mix up gameplay and hentai pretty well, like the Raidy series or Seinarukana, Huniepop is also a good example, however, it feels more like a puzzle game with H-Scenes as a reward (but I still love it). With that said, there is a new game to join this list, and a terrific one at that, Treasure Hunter Claire by the wonderful people over at Kagura Games.
In this game, we play as Claire, and to no one’s surprise, she’s a busty treasure hunter. Claire starts her journey in Alstroemeria island, due to some rumors about a treasure that could grant any wish. Long ago the island used to be a continent and there existed a Hero and a Demon, who fought fiercely against each other. One day the fight came to an end, the continent turned into an island, and an erotic goddess now protects Alstroemeria. With that, humans and demons now worship the erotic goddess and band together to fight monsters. This is the backstory of the game, a bit basic I understand, but good enough for the overall plot since that’s not it’s full focus. Early on Claire meets up with this erotic goddess. Claire then discovers that she’s, in fact, the descendant of the Hero of legends. That makes her able to use semen to upgrade her abilities and armor. Throughout your adventure, you’ll also be able to meet new characters and add them to your party, making your task easier and lewder.
Regarding gameplay, this is where Treasure Hunter Claire really shines. It manages to mix hentai inside the actual battle system and it’s mechanics, an impressive feat. The base of the gameplay is the same as any JRPG, talk with someone, go to point A, kill some bad guys, watch a cutscene, repeat, you do have some optional quests, and surprisingly, they also include a short story, usually ending with Claire having sex with someone. These quests are well explained and the objectives are well marked in the world, so, you’ll never get lost in your quest for booty. Monsters roam around the map, instead of the random encounters, so you can evade combat if you want. I was most impressed by the battle system, here you have your usual attack and magic command (no need for introductions), with the addition of the sex command. During your travels and sex experiences you learn new sexual moves that you can use against your enemies, these drain mana from your enemies, and add effects such like paralysis, let’s be real, what can a werewolf do when a cute girl starts sucking his dick? On the other hand, enemies can also do that to you, and even, force themselves into Claire and her party. While they’re into you, so to speak, you have an option to either fight back or subdue to him. If you fight back, you can try to kill him before he climaxes, or give in to pleasure waiting for his climax. If you continue choosing the later or not being able to kill him when you attack him, you’ll continue losing health and mana. Once he climaxes and you’re still alive, you’ll get all of his semen to strengthen your abilities and armor, just be sure to do a quick stop at your house to clean all that semen from your body.
One thing I love about this game is that you can customize Claire’s clothes, from her underwear to her combat clothes, and I was surprised that even that is part of the gameplay, along with selling your used panties for cash. Some scenes will only be playable/unlocked, once you have the correct set of clothes equipped, and during combat, if your health drops below a certain number, your clothes will start to tear apart, and that is persistent through cutscenes until you heal up. Experience points are also surprisingly well handled in this game. All the experience points you earn are added to a pool, that you can later choose which characters get experience, since you can have some characters out of your active party, it is possible to grind experience points with a specific party, and then level up characters that are under level outside of your current party. There is also an arouse level, that can unlock certain scenes. Characters body parts level up, like, the more Claire’s uses her boobs, the better they become. All in all, the entirety of Treasure Hunter Claire’s gameplay was very well thought for a Hentai JRPG, and even as a JRPG, it’s a good one.
There are a lot of Hentai CG’s in this game, everything uncensored, with the addition of the sprites during the combat sequences, when the monsters force themselves into Claire, and the nicely animated sexual attacks, also during combat. Even the short side quests have a small hentai CG sequence, also voiced like the rest of the hentai scenes. Graphically the game is not impressive, but it does its job rather nicely. The monster art is mediocre, but the character art makes up for it, some girls look well drawn and fit perfectly for a hentai game.
With multiple endings, a corruption system (yes, depending on your progress, Claire can become a bit of a masochist), and a lot of hentai, Treasure Hunter Claire might just be one of the best Hentai JRPG out there at the moment. If you enjoy JRPG’s, trust me, you won’t be disappointed by the complexity of this game, and as a bonus, girls, boobs, and lewdness are included.
