Lilith helps Yuuri train for the school sports day festival. Lilith cheers for her young master in his athletic events.
Episode 5 – “My Precious…”
Hmm.
The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious has settled into a slice-of-life rhythm. Lilith flirts with Yuuri, the boy declares his mad love for her, and Lilith screams internally for joy. Yuuri’s possessive love bomb he throws at Lilith to unsettle her heart is the source of tension this week. He’s possessive and jealous! Yuuri doesn’t want to share Lilith’s beauty with anyone else’s eyes! That’s a dilemma because he also wants Lilith to come to his school and cheer him on. I liked his compromise: no sexy maid uniform! The problem for Lilith in wearing a tracksuit is that she made it sexy too. Lilith’s sexiness equation will always equal “too sexy” because her inherent spiciness makes any outfit its naughty version. Lilith can’t help it. And Yuuri should always worry about others’ leering eyes.
Yuuri’s friend Tsukasa makes a return performance. She is the proxy for The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious’s audience in several ways. We saw the top-level filter in her introduction during the third episode when Tsukasa interprets Yuuri and Lilith’s interactions as an illicit age-gap romance. Fujisaki, the butler, adds to the comedy routine as the check on being over-stimulated. Fujisaki won’t let her mistress turn into a deviant voyeur! That’s also a warning to the audience! It’s all right to “ship” characters in your imagination, but don’t hide behind a tree to gather idea material. You might develop illegal habits! Fujisaki cares for your well-being too! Now, go ahead and “ship” Lilith and Fujisaki.
Heh.
Yuuri runs up and down his halls. Why? Ah. It’s a sports day episode for The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious. Haha! Lilith called Yuuri “suspicious.” Take that, bocchama! Cute. Lilith thinks she’s helping Yuuri train by cheerleading. Where is her maid cheerleading outfit? Lilith’s self-consciousness makes her blushing cuter. Yuuri agrees! Bocchama has no filter. This miniature Chad. He wants to keep Lilith’s cute cheering to himself. Ah. Lilith can come to sports day but tamp down the cuteness. That’s only for the privacy of their home! Now I’m curious about Lilith’s strategy for diminishing her attractiveness. I’m sure the maid will still look suspicious.
The episode title for The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious is “僕の大事な… (Boku no daijna… – My precious…).” I doubt a hobbit will pop out of the air with a Ring of Power. But has Yuuri’s possessiveness turned into obsession? Not yet! Yet. Oh my. The maid-master pair sounds like newlyweds that need to get a room. The corny love lines crack me up! Oh boy. I worry for Tsukasa’s mental health. She’s enjoying voyeurism too much. Fujisaki shows her concern for Tsukasa’s peeping. Tsukasa is precocious, after all, so the girl understands the point of peeping is the thrill of being caught. Har. Tsukasa wishes she could have an iffy relationship with Fujisaki. Not happening. Hoho. Fujisaki can turn on the charm when she wants to.
Lilith makes fancy snacks. Financiers are French almond miniature cakes baked with hazelnut butter. Oho. Lilith will do more than lead cheers as Yuuri trains for sports day. What kind of training plan did Lilith make for bocchama? A suspicious one? So much innuendo in her explanation. I’d love for Lilith to work me over. Huh. Lilith’s training regimen is simply practical for the events on sports day. Good! What? That scarred-up bully cat in The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious is a pest. It’s helping Yuuri in a way. Nice, nice. Massage therapy for recovery. Suspicious massage! It’s not fair! Yuuri needs to know what makes Lilith feel good too! Wait a few years, Yuuri. Training montage. Did that white cat get a name?
Quick cut to Tsukasa and Fujisaki. Aw. The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious’s story puts the dirty-minded girl in the same circumstance as Yuuri. Tsukasa asks her butler to come to sports day because her parents can’t. Ha! What a naughty minx! Tsukasa used fake tears to manipulate Fujisaki’s emotions. The butler is correct to worry about the young mistress’s deviancy! Hello. No sexy maid uniform for Lilith when she comes to Yuuri’s school. Comfortable clothes, only. Will there be a parent-child athletic event? Sports day festivals usually have one of those things.
Sports day! Make Lilith proud, Yuuri! Hahaha! His classmates call him “the poor kid.” Holy moly. Uh oh. Tsukasa’s “shipping” sense is tingling. Stay in the age-gap romance aisle, Tsukasa! We’re avoiding the coming-of-age BL story in the plot of The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious. Oh, okay. Tsukasa reads into Yuuri’s aggression that he’s fighting for Lilith’s attention. Phew, that was a close one. There she is! Lilith in a tracksuit and maid apron! She even has the maid uniform headdress! Oh, Tsukasa, no. Lilith’s suspicious reward for Yuuri isn’t what you’re hoping for. Well. She’ll root for Yuuri hard now, but for the wrong reasons. Or the right ones, hehe. Fujisaki knows her mistress well. Aw. Yuuri did get his reward from Lilith. Her sweet smile! Too pure for Tsukasa’s eyes! Ooh. Lilith in bloomers is a thing for the eyecatch!
Oh? Fujisaki shows concern that Lilith makes her presence public. Foreshadowing! Lunchtime. Lilith can impress Fujisaki with her food preparation skills too. There it is. Yuuri needs Lilith to participate in a running event. Aha! It’s the obstacle course. I’m giggling at how The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious made the fathers wear neckties and suits! Yuuri cheers for Lilith, and that’s what she needs to win. Here we go. Lilith gives the audience our reward for seeing her covered up with a tracksuit. We need all three moles on display!
Also, Yuuri shouts out the episode title. Lilith is his precious family. RIP to Tsukasa’s shipping fantasies. Then again, she can add in the inseki tag. Yuuri’s classmates don’t find Lilith’s status odd at all. Good for them. Lilith is more than a maid when she’s “so cute, makes such good food, who’s suspicious and can do anything!” Those qualities make Lilith a suspicious angel, not necessarily a family member. Here come Yuuri’s unfiltered romantic compliments. Imagine a romantic comedy where obnoxious confessions happen several times in an episode. No need because we’re watching The Maid I Hired Recently is Mysterious right now. Nothing suspicious about loud declarations of awesomeness.
Next time, is Lilith… weird? おかしい (okashii – weird) is not 怪しい (ayashii – suspicious)!
