Gojou and Marin worry about how he denies they’re dating. But he visits her after she caught a cold.
Episode 14 — “You Can Equip Boobs”
My Dress-Up Darling Make Me Go Hmm.
What is one cliché you see when a woman cheats on her partner? My Dress-Up Darling showed you one as Gojou cared for Marin during her illness. He hid on the balcony from Marin’s friends, who made a surprise visit after school. But why is Gojou acting like he’s having a secret affair with Marin? Who is he cheating on? Gojou feels like Marin is cheating on her friends with him. He also hasn’t processed that he’s not a creep who plays with dolls.
Marin’s friends see Gojou as a good match for Marin, so they wouldn’t feel betrayed at catching them together alone. How long will it be until Gojou’s self-esteem rises enough so he can agree, at least slightly, that he deserves to date Marin? I hope it’s soon in My Dress-Up Darling because I like seeing happy lovers happily loving each other.
Heh.

Let’s pick up right after My Dress-Up Darling’s cliffhanger and Gojou’s stupendous spit take. Are you and Marin dating? Aw. Marin’s other friends wonder the same thing that Nowa yelled into a karaoke microphone. The kids are curious and treat the question as no big deal. Marin admits she and Gojou went to the summer festival together (see episode 12). Haha! The boys and girls are only jealous that they didn’t get an invitation! Gojou denies that he and Marin are dating, but he sounds too panicky about it. That low self-esteem issue worked him up. Will Marin be sad about his emotional outburst? Her friends think they should have started dating already! I predict Marin will get over his overt slight quickly.

Uh oh. Who is this angry, handsome man? Former boyfriend? The guy behind him doesn’t have an expression matching an anxious situation. Ack. My Dress-Up Darling will make Gojou embarrassingly misinterpret things, creating an awkward scene. I notice that Marin chose fishnets with a hard seam for her bunny girl suit. Hahaha! What is Gojou saying here? He’s volunteering to replace Marin for whatever this blond, angry man wants her to do? Hello, bisexual Gojou-kun! What a panicky young man. Awkward. Hoho. The pair of ikemen are gay hairdressers! The blond one hates how much Marin damages her beautiful hair! He’s even concerned she’ll catch a cold because her costume is so skimpy. This counts as foreshadowing in My Dress-Up Darling. Aw. The dudes know who Gojou is.

Oh, right. Marin realized Gojou was trying to protect her! She wuvs him! Chuu! Ahahaha! Gojou even misinterpreted that kissing sound as a tongue click. Not his best night. Oops. Marin can’t admit she kissed Gojou’s costume’s cheek. Oh, another sound. Achoo!
My Dress-Up Darling Presents Gojou’s Cheating Heart

No surprises. Marin got sick! Funny. The cool kids call their teacher “Hana-chan” instead of “Hana-sensei.” This news worries Gojou because she never replied to his text. Whoa. Marin has a bad cold. She can’t even put on her red contact lenses. Aw. Gojou worried so much that he skipped school. He also claimed to be sick. Oh no. Gojou must touch Marin’s regular clothes to change her sweaty ones. Can he do it? Okay, maybe not that T-shirt.

Food porn in My Dress-Up Darling. Rice porridge hand feeding. But they’re not dating! Aw. Marin’s sickness came at the worst time. She was out of food, couldn’t move, and she felt total relief from Gojou visiting her. Don’t leave yet, Gojou-kun. Marin’s temperature went down, but Gojou faces a worse crisis. Marin’s friends visited her after school! He’s still self-conscious about starting rumors that he and Marin are dating. Har. Gojou hid on the veranda and caught a cold.

Aha. My Dress-Up Darling does a bit of cosplaying to satisfy the premise. A local aquarium hosts a cosplay event where the models can take pictures with the fish. Marin dressed as Shizuku-tan, so you know she’s wearing a boob bag. Ooh. Marin detected an ecchi cosplayer! That shocks even the fish! Amane Himeno notices how Gojou and Marin act like rookies in the cosplay pastime.
He’s Wearing Fake Boobs! Can My Dress-Up Darling Do That?

The cosplayer for a character from Space Idols Cosmic Lovers has a secret. He’s a dude who cross-dresses as female characters. Gojou’s most pressing question about Amane is why he carries liquid glue around in his makeup kit. Why? Why, why, why? Meanwhile, Marin reconnected with her photographer friend, Suzuka. She convinced Suzuka to play Slippery Girls to better understand Shizuka-tan. But, how authentic did Marin make her Shizuka-tan cosplay? Is she haitenai underneath? No! Boo! My Dress-Up Darling framed her shorts out of the shot! Oh. Amane satisfied Gojou’s curiosity about the glue: he uses it for gluing his wig hair around his cheeks to change the shape of his face. He showed Marin and Gojou his portfolio, which impressed them for two reasons. Two big reasons!

Gojou saw it the other way around when Shinju wrapped her chest (eventually unsuccessfully) to play a tall male character, so why not a guy doing the opposite? But instead of flattening boobs, he can equip them. Yes. You can equip boobs! Do you wanna see oppai? Um, yes!

The end credits and theme song for My Dress-Up Darling are super kawaii! We see more characters Marin will cosplay this summer season.
Next time, Marin shows wuv for slice-of-life scenes.
My Dress-Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) streams on Crunchyroll in Japanese with multiple language subtitles.
Hold on. Will Amane-kun show us an oppai board commercial in the next episode? Those oppai mousepads deserve a second look. Should Marin consider using fake boobs so she can cosplay a broader variety of characters? Or will her purist attitude deny those temptations? I’m tempted by any kind of boobs. How about you?
