Let’s Review Ecchi Manga: Become the Gyaru With Danshi Koukousei dakedo Gal ni TS Shimashita!

Did you think we were done with gyarus/gals after last week? Think again! Tanned girls can’t be denied. We reviewed a manga series about a timid teacher joining the very free staff at an all-gyaru high school last week. Well, this week we’re going to a completely different all-gyaru, all-female, high school. I highlight all-female because I’ve yet to see a male staff member at this school. Our protagonist is still timid, but he gets genderswapped into a gyaru with a model’s body. Let’s review Danshi Koukousei dakedo Gal ni TS Shimashita (I’m a High School Boy, but I Got Gender-Swapped into a Gyaru) and see how s/he handles these new changes.

Taiyou Marii released the Danshi Koukousei dakedo Gal ni TS Shimashita manga series on March 23rd, 2024. Fujimi Shobo has since published two volumes in Dra-Dra-Sharp#.

The Tanned Tales of Danshi Koukousei dakedo Gal ni TS Shimashita

This series highlights the saying “be careful what you wish for.” Junpei is an introvert and wondered if he could get closer to people if he were a girl. In his mind, girls are much freer with their feelings. The legendary Gyaru Goddess gives him what she thinks he wants and turns him into a gyaru with a stacked figure, complete with an H Cup bust. I now want to see gyaru versions of Naruko and Ranko.

Junpei’s mother, a former gyaru who believed in the Gyarugami, pulls strings to get Junpei transferred to her old school. If I were Junpei, I’d have mixed feelings about my mother being very happy that I turned into a stacked gyaru. Look at how she dressed him! Good mother or bad mother? Sound off in the comments. Gyarugami can change him back (if he really wants that), but her power reserves are low. Junpei has to befriend all the gyarus in the school to restore her power. Now begins the gender-swapped introverted gyaru’s school life arc.

The Girls of Danshi Koukousei dakedo Gal ni TS Shimashita

I’ll tell you this much: the gyarus in this manga are 100x better than the gyarus from Transferred to the Gyaru Academy. For instance, I can tell them apart. And they’re genuinely kind and bubbly, exactly the sort of friends Junpei needs, even if s/he gets easily flustered by their friendliness. The only lewd elements here are playful groping and wardrobe changes. No yuri elements thus far, or I’d demand we raise the Megumi rating system to ten.

The girls go out of their way to help Junpei out, especially when it comes to the importance of bras. Special credits will be given to Nao and Maaya, his first real friends. Nao seems like the quiet and aloof sort, but she quickly warms to Junpei. Maaya is more of a flashy, free-loving girl, and she showed up to hang out with Junpei after a single call on a random weekend when s/he needed to work on making friends.

The Art of Danshi Koukousei dakedo Gal ni TS Shimashita

I’ll say it from the jump: the initial release has black squares over the fun bits. The volume release is free of these censorious cubes, but I couldn’t find them. However! The cubes don’t detract from the series’ visual appeal. The gyarus look as flashy and fun as you’d expect from a gyaru. I love that the gyarus aren’t all tanned. The cast’s variance helps differentiate them.

Naturally, the teacher and school nurse have the most appeal. The teacher wears some flashy clothes while encouraging her students to do well, and the nurse may present that yuri element that threatens to break the rating system. Junpei him/herself isn’t slacking either. The wardrobe changes and friendly lewd antics really get a rise out of him/her, and it’s fun to see his/her expressions.

A Genderswap Gyaru’s Conclusion

If you’re looking for a series that blends lewd and borderline yuri moments with really heartwarming interactions between kind gyarus and an introverted genderswap gyaru, then look no further. I really rooted for Junpei to break out of his shell and make friends. This was also a nice chaser after last week‘s showing of “all gyarus are loose women.” I liked that series, but the plot was paper thin, despite the thicc girls. For all the nice and exciting gyarus in this all-gyaru school, I happily give this series a solid 5/5 on the Megumi rating system. Dear Gyarugami, please give it the anime adaptation the mangaka wants.
