JAST’s Yabai Exhibition is taking over the Jagarhaus Gallery in downtown Los Angeles from July 2 to 5. And let me tell you why I’m gushing about it. When I first saw Idiocracy and Shimoneta, the fear made my balls shrivel. And as I see the UK’s and Latin America’s eagerness to restrict personal freedoms, those shows shifted from a satirical, half-hearted warning to a panicking view of what’s to come. But the fog of foreboding hasn’t completely darkened the horizon. There are still plenty of people making R18 art accessible. And we at J-List will always celebrate that.
But I’d be lying if I said that my/our excitement for this year’s Yabai Exhibition isn’t also due to the stellar lineup that JAST has planned. This year’s guest of honor is the renowned Hinoue Itaru, the character designer behind Clannad, Kanon, and Little Busters!. Hinoue-sensei will be autographing prints on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th.

Yabai Exhibition 2026 — What To Expect
This year’s featured artists at Yabai Exhibition include J-List favorites Hyocoro, Kantoku, Kindatsu, and Mignon. But that’s not all — additional artists include:
- Chipushishi
- Ikezaki Misa — Saien Sekai no Next Endroll
- Mikoyan — Ogre vs Dark Elf: Operation Ogre Breeding
- NLCH — The Art of NLCH
- Neyuki Rei — Tanned Girl + Blue Hair Anthology
- Oyari Ashito — Tempted By My Nieces (Can’t get that in the UK), How to Train Demi Human Maids
- Satou Kuuki — Corrupted Party, Fragments of Falling Stars

Additionally, the Yabai Exhibition will feature an extensive collection of R18 art and hand-signed shikishi that patrons can browse and buy. And I do mean “extensive,” — there’s art by:
- Atahuta
- Buta
- Doku Denpa
- Ichihaya
- Ikezaki Misa
- Ind Kary
- Kyaradain
- Kanro Ame
- Jun
- Mancin
- Melkor
- Shiwasu no Okina
- Ter
- Usahiro Mani
Admission to the Yabai Exhibition is free (leave your kids at home), but the autograph signing by Hinoue-sensei costs $40. That’s a pittance. If I hadn’t spent the last week in and out of the hospital, I’d already be heading to LA.
