Episode 8 — “You Two Seem Quite Intimate”
Takamine-san Makes Me Go Hmm.
Ever since Koushi learned about Takane’s Eternal Virgin Road, he has been reliving his childhood. We still don’t know why he can’t remember Takane. But that revelation is closer after another childhood friend entered Koushi’s orbit. I like Ellie Evergreen’s addition to the cast of Takamine-san because her character moves the overall plot further along. That’s a welcome sign if we view Takamine-san as a supernatural mystery. But introducing another childhood friend is also a negative. How?
How do you derail a love train that looks like it will arrive at its destination early? You add love wrenches to gum up the gears or throw them on the tracks. And the most overused solution in serial storytelling is adding a love rival. It smacks of desperation to avoid a satisfying resolution if we treat Takamine-san as a romantic comedy. The latest anime that annoys anime fans (because it uses melodramatic plot devices to keep love interests apart) is Rent-a-Girlfriend. Its irritating main character will make you want to punch the screen again this summer.
Will Takamine-san cause the same reaction after Ellie joins the cast? It’s still too early to say, but she brings positive and negative possibilities to advance and derail this supernatural mystery romance.

Ellie Evergreen recognized Koushi, but why doesn’t this guy ever recognize these hotties that he grew up with? She was a tomboy who grew into a sexy teenager in five years. Puberty treated her right! Ellie claims to be an amateur model. Is that how she describes being a social media influencer? Aha. It’s a real reunion now because they went to the park where they had always played together. Koushi still can’t remember the girl with the black cat. Takamine-san has covered this issue over several episodes already.
I wish I were Koushi’s forearm! Ellie is still as touchy-feely as she used to be, but she has extra girly parts to touch and feel now! Yes, Koushi. Let’s get Ellie all wet in a water balloon fight. Hey. That’s not a water balloon! That’s a water bomb! Boom. Ellie took herself out, but the audience was the real winner. See? She’s fine because she’s not wearing a bra. Takamine-san knows how to entertain us with a wet shirt and pokey nipples. Takane is never far from Koushi’s mind. She may as well be his conscience.
Takamine-san Loves Loose Tongue Action
Look! She’s already dry! You can tell by examining her areolas… Ellie heard Koushi’s reasons for attending cram school so he could follow his not-girlfriend to a top university. The not-boyfriend and not-girlfriend must love each other! That’s the logic you can expect from Ellie. Here we go. Takamine-san couldn’t avoid sexy flirting for too long with dripping ice cream in an almost-naked girl’s hands. Girls shouldn’t lick a boy’s neck, but is it okay to lick each other? And that white goo doesn’t look like ice cream, either. Oh, no. Takane saw the neck licking!

Koushi is in big trouble. Aw. Ellie doesn’t even know what heavy petting and foreplay are. Takane can teach her. Uh oh. Takane’s dirty mind makes her think the water balloons are used-up condoms. This is a twist. Usually, Takamine-san shows Koushi’s sexual fantasies before he drives them from his mind. Here, Takane imagines Koushi and a “loose” stranger girl doing “this and that.” With condoms. How about a threesome? With water balloons? I do not believe water balloons go into those bodily orifices. Let’s get soaking wet… with water balloons. Slap! And the jokes are over. But still no water balloon fight.
Look! Another childhood playmate reunion. Ellie recognizes everyone. Takane grew up to be so beautiful! Yes, we noticed seven episodes ago. Interesting. Takane wants to prevent Ellie from explaining how the three are childhood friends. Takamine-san still has a mystery to resolve. Aw. Takane won’t even admit to Ellie that she’s still in love with Koushi.
Tutor Me Harder, Takamine-san!
It all comes out. Closet-kun hopes to follow Takane to university. Har. Takamine-san bleeped out the word “slut.” Takane springs into action as Koushi’s super tutor. With all that implies! What? Why is she replaying this scene? I suppose the anime has a quota of at least one Eternal Virgin Road scene. Hahaha. Takane wanted him to say “thank you,” instead of his squishy, reluctant response. Plus, she gets to feel his hands on her legs after worrying about public sex threesomes in the park. Super cramming time!
