Takamine-san Makes Me Go Hmm.
Takane Takamine’s character offers a psychological study of how a perfectionist thinks. But her time loop ability could act like a drug she becomes dependent on. Takamine-san showed her having withdrawal symptoms and stressing out after she abstained for less than a day. She needed a hit so badly! Ultimately, though, perfectionism is about control. Specifically, Takane feels the impulse to protect her self-image. That personality quirk connects nicely to an anime love archetype: The Tsundere.
Doesn’t it seem strange that a tsundere can’t admit her romantic feelings for someone else? What’s the psychological impulse to deny something so obvious? It’s control! Admitting feelings would be a sign of weakness in the tsundere’s eyes. A self-sufficient girl shouldn’t need a life partner, much less a romantic one. Preserving an independent self-image fits Takane’s perfectionist tendencies, so it’s unsurprising to see Takamine-san reveal her love type as a tsundere. And a jealous one, at that! Be careful, Koushi. Takane will punish you terribly for petting the wrong pussy!

Koushi has admitted he is dumb in Takamine-san, episode 1. However, Takane found more confirmation because he misunderstood the homework assignment’s due date. Oho. Takane jokingly confessed her plans for Koushi: she wants him to be by her side forever. Takane offered to help him during breaks and lunch, but Koushi impressed her after he showed enough ambition to improve his grades on his own. Could Takane’s dominatrix pressure have taught him lessons in deriving pleasure from punishment?
Aw. Takane refrained from using Eternal Virgin Road to give Koushi enough time to finish his homework. She even suffered mentally from accepting slight mistakes. Yay! Koushi turned in his assignments on time! But poor Takane. She collapsed from stress! Takane’s reaction looks like she’s going through withdrawal. Ha! She threw it in Koushi’s face. Aw, again. Koushi offers to let Takane redo the day because he can do his homework again after seeing it already. She knows they attended elementary, middle, and high school together, but she doesn’t remember him from grade school. I see what she’s doing. Takane is testing whether Koushi remembers her. Now is the time in Takamine-san for passive-aggressive sexual teasing. The AC went out with the power, but the rain hasn’t lowered the temperature indoors. Cold showers for everyone! Ah, finally. Koushi recounts a vague memory of a grade schoolgirl who took care of a stray cat with him. Yes. The audience already knows who the players are.
Worse, Koushi remembers hesitating to give the girl an answer to her love confession. No wonder Takane takes every opportunity to punish Koushi. Also, Takane took Kuro with her, so Koushi never saw the “girl and the stray cat again.” Takane needs to know what he would tell that girl with the cat if he saw her again. Ack! We know he’s dumb, but Koushi is really dumb! Takane took comfort in the fact that Slowta-kun remembered the girl and the cat.
Lightning Strikes Takamine-san Twice!
Lightning and thunder! Oh, right. Takamine-san could show more nudity! Like Takane being afraid of thunder and losing her towel. This is also another chance for the anime to offer another vulnerability that Takane hides. Koushi’s thumb is convenient and creative censorship to keep Takamine-san in the ecchi genre instead of the hentai one. Oh no. Takane can’t use her powers to erase Koushi’s memories of her squealing like a scared little girl. She lost the veil of perfection after she recruited Closet-kun to carry her lingerie.
