Of all the brutally difficult games that FromSoftware has developed, their most recent success, Elden Ring, is their best-known. The new multiplayer spin-off, Elden Ring Nightreign, releases on May 30, and a live-action adaptation by A24 films was recently announced. That’s why J-List decided to focus on the very best aspect of Elden Ring: the waifus and their cosplays!
Elden Ring’s characters have resonated with audiences around the world, thanks to their design, difficulty, and backstories. The game’s complex lore, written by A Song of Ice and Fire’s George R.R. Martin, fleshes the characters out beyond being “boss battles.”
Thanks to Elden Ring’s popularity, cosplay from the game has become a mainstay both online and at conventions. Join us on the J-List Blog as we journey through the Lands Between to find the perfect cosplay of your Elden Ring waifu!
Melina: Cosplaying Elden Ring’s Most Tragic Beauty
The beautiful, doe-eyed Melina serves the role of “maiden” for the “Tarnished” player on their journey. FromSoftware has a long history of giving players a gorgeous “level-up lady” to ease their pains. From the Maiden in Black of Demon’s Souls to the Fire Keepers in Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, a pretty face is all a tired warrior needs to ease their burdens. Even the much-maligned Dark Souls 2 had the Emerald Herald, arguably the game’s only saving grace.
In Elden Ring, Melina unfortunately has a one-way ticket to a fiery death unless the Tarnished finds another way to burn the Erdtree. Whether you deny Melina her Destined Death or not, her steadfast presence ends upon those frosted peaks. Nevertheless, she lives on in our hearts, and these cosplays remind us of simpler days with our maiden in the Lands Between.

Malenia: Cosplay of Elden Ring’s Scarlet Goddess
The most difficult boss of the base game has become a legendary challenge for Elden Ring players. Tucked away beyond two secret areas, Malenia’s wickedly fast combo attacks put everything players have learned to the test. Her difficulty has showcased the very best of the Elden Ring online community, culminating in the near-mythic tale of “Let Me Solo Her.” This player became a reliable fixture outside Malenia’s boss room, helping countless players defeat her in co-op mode.
Malenia is as beautiful as she is deadly. Her title as “Goddess of Rot” is sadly ironic, as she bears the incurable affliction of “Scarlet Rot.” Even so, her godly beauty remains undiminished, particularly in the second phase of her battle. In this phase, she sheds her armor and spreads her wings to become an angel of death. Keep your wits about you, and don’t be distracted by her naked body — or you’ll be felled by the Blade of Miquella!

Marika: Cersei Called, She Wants Her Braid Back
Despite loosely being the final boss of Elden Ring, Queen Marika’s presence throughout the game is confined to statues, paintings, and lore descriptions. Her backstory is complex and a clear indication of George R.R. Martin’s influence on Elden Ring’s story. Marika’s actions in the world are either heroic or heinous, depending on your viewpoint, which perfectly encapsulates FromSoftware’s morally gray storytelling.
Thankfully, lore and morality go out the window for fan art and cosplay. The Elden Ring community has collectively crafted an idealized version of Queen Marika, and we are certainly not going to complain. Blonde hair and S-rank boobs are all we needed anyway — but if she looked like this in-game, she could have been the most difficult boss for another reason entirely!

Ranni: The Four-Armed Waifu of Your Dreams
Ah, Ranni, the Lunar Princess. Truly bewitching in all the right ways, Ranni is one of the most popular waifus from Elden Ring for good reason. She’s charming, mysterious, and entirely otherworldly. Ranni’s blue skin and witchy attire represent her allegiance to the stars and only serve to enhance her natural beauty. We’re not ashamed to admit that we’ve wondered exactly how an extra set of hands could improve certain acts of physical intimacy!
Some Ranni cosplayers go all-out with body paint and prosthetic arms, while others focus on her pure sexiness. Either way, the Lunar Princess is one of our favorite characters from Elden Ring, and an excellent candidate for best waifu.

Roderika: Elden Ring Cosplay of a Beloved NPC
In a game filled with literal goddess-tier waifus, it’s nice to give a regular ol’ gal some time to shine. The Tarnished encounters Roderika on the journey to Stormveil, the intended first boss area of the game. A noblewoman who lost her men in battle, she berates herself as “craven” and entrusts the player with a summoning spirit, expecting she will soon die. Instead, Melina takes Roderika back to Roundtable Hold, where she slowly grows in confidence as a “spirit tuner.”
Roderika’s role parallels Melina’s, only instead of strengthening the player, she strengthens your spirit summons. Seeing the terrified young lady regain her confidence and begin caring about her fellows at the Roundtable is a nice reward for the player and a bright spot in such a dark game.

Fia: ‘Til Death Do We Part
Fia is found in a bed-chamber of the Roundtable Hold. Her role in Elden Ring is complex and best explained in a lore video. Simply put, her questline revolves around death. It’s a concept that has been physically removed from the Lands Between, and ultimately ends the abnormal cycle of immortality.
Perhaps owing to the convoluted nature of her questline, Fia doesn’t receive as much love from the community as the other Elden Ring waifus. It’s a real shame, since she’s drop-dead gorgeous (pun not intended), and her first interaction with the Tarnished is an intimate embrace. We promise we’re not projecting, we swear!
